Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fixing a broken wing mirror for a Golf.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good (reasonable priced garage) where I could get my wing mirror fixed? How much do these type of things cost to get fixed? I wasn't parked on a footpath or wasn't obstructing any entrance, so I think it was kids who broke it off. It's not too badly damaged (it's still partially attached to the car). I've got an '02 Golf.

There not a big job to replace, if your handy with a few tools.
You'd find one in a scrapyard(probably need the base part,
    thats attached to the window).
That or ring an indy mechanic, pricewise i'd guess €100
    for the job.

You should look into replacing it yourself. Not sure about a Golf, but I replaced my Focus wing mirror and it was as simple as removing a small panel on the inside and unscrewing one bolt.

sound for that - it's always good to have an estimate price in mind.

Is the wing mirror manually operated or electric? If you have the owner's manual or a haynes manual then it would be worth having a go yourself.

The thing about picking one up from a scrapyard is that the colour might not match.

Other than that give a main dealer a ring, my sister got one for her Lupo from a dealer and it only cost around €40. That was black, manual and excluding glass though, the Golf might be more expensive. Also try www.micksgarage.ie.

Nice work! Just €30 for a manual mirror (which is what I'm looking for). I might even give it a go myself and see how I get on *fingers crossed*
