Was thinking that myself. I particularly liked the last part when he talks about picking up as much as he can learn from the likes of Thorn, Cullen and Dev.

I think the fact Flanagan elected to put his education ahead of his sports up to now indicates hes a fairly sharp guy. Hopefully that translates onto the field.

LEINSTER SKILLS COACH, Richie Murphy, has confirmed today that Brian O’Driscoll will make a long-awaited return from injury this week.

Also confirms that Reddan will definitely not be involved. So we're looking at either Cooney or McGrath, with a possibility of Boss if he's back.

    When is the team named?

Its always good to see the younger lads have a shot.

Agreed. Actually Cooney has been on fire recently too. Team should be named tomorrow at lunch time.

OBrien had the most tackles on the Irish team over the 6 Nations I think, which is impressive given he didn't play a game. (That's not an ESPN stat either). 44 or something I think.

    SOB 44 in 4, Ferris 63 in 5.

ED. Just checked ESPN again. Total for FEZ is 63 , not 53. Lydiate Player of the series with 43.

    I didn't count Ferris because I don't believe he's a human being.

SOB made marginally more tackles per game than Ferris, even more impressive when he missed a total of 45 minutes in the games he did play, whereas Ferris didn't miss a single minute of the 5 games he played.

    It's basically 5 games v 3 and a half.

Do people still believe ESPN scrum stats? they're hilariously wrong all the time.

ESPN Scrum. Looked at each game stats and added them up - simples.

either you're wrong or I'm wrong but I came out with Ferris at 63 tackles.

I didn't use ESPN Scrum stats. The stats I'm looking at have Ferris down as 48 and O'Brien as 44, so ESPN isn't very different (I just missed Ferris for some reason).

    ESPN Stats per game

    Ferris v. Wales 8. .........SOB 18
    Ferris v. France14 .........SOB 13
    Ferris v. Italy 12 .........SOB 7
Ferris v. Scotland 18 .....SOB inj
    Ferris v. England 11 ......SOB 6

So, Ferris' total is 63 tackles in 5 games.
SOB's total is 44 tackles in 4 games

275 mins in terms of games is just under 3 and a half games. 44 tackles in 3.5 games averages out to 12.5 tackles a game. 63 tackles in 5 games averages out to 12.6 tackles a game.

I don't know if it was announced before but Rhy Ruddock signed a new two year deal for Leinster 3 weeks ago

Really, hadn't heard anything about it, was it reported on at all?

    Great news all the same.

Ruddock is the same age as Dom Ryan. Mad. I always consider him a year or two older.

I was surprised since I hadn't heard anything about it before.

Very surprised there wasnt more about this annoucement, will be a good player for the future. With all the talk of Munster you would have thought it would be splashed all over press

Great news to be keeping him. Rhys, Dom and SOB for the next few years, back rows looks in good shape!

They normally announce contract information in bulk so expect his announcement to be included with several other players some day in the next few weeks.

It's a bit crazy the depth leinster have in the back row.

McLaughlin, O'Brien, Jennings, Ryan, Ruddock, Heaslip and Auv'a on senior contracts.

Murphy, Marshall, Gilsenan, Coughlan in the academy and Jack Conan in the sub academy.

Mad strength in depth. Just wish a couple of them were second rows.

Well, that stuff isn't going to put itself in the water, if you know what I mean...
