Can't believe that Racing haven't brought on a scrum half.

You have to take off a winger for a 9.

It's the same ref who sent Stander off a couple of weeks back.

    Jesus Christ Racing...

    Well worked try

Not only are Racing playing without a 9, they have moved their best back there. This is madness.

Fernandez Ligind and Gorgodzilla. Glorious rugby.

Great kick to keep Racing within striking distance if they can pull something special out of the fire.

Crucial they don't concede again quickly.

Statistically it's 5 points for every 10 mins on the clock.

But they're also getting destroyed in the scrum. And toulon have HP

Do you know where you got that statistic from? Not disputing it's true for teams with a man down from a yellow, but it seems like red card matches never develop into the drubbings they promise by that metric.

The only place I've heard that statistic mantioned before is in a Sky commentary.

Racing are doing great to stay in this. They still need Phillips on!

Well fair play to Racing - only 2 points in it at half time.

I think a big factor in the stat could be the points scored from the actual penalty that leads to the card, and this could be a reason the statistic might not carry over to reds.

Idiocy from Gorgodze. As great as he is, he's always been a penalty machine.

It completely varies by team and league. There was a big analysis done on it a couple of years ago. I think on average a yellow card equated to conceding 3.5 points in the AP.

I'll bet you €50 they don't bring him on.

It's completely wrong to show Machenaud in the dressing room. It's bad enough getting sent off without having your anguish afterwards being broadcast.

Honestly no idea. But I disagree about games not becoming drubbings. Scotland's record loss to Wales came after a red for Hogg. Sometimes it galvanizes teams, but it mentally weakens them in other situations.

Horrible. No one wanted to see that.

    Racing in front!!!!!

All Toulon at the start of the second, but it's Racing who score first. Not bad.

    Yo Toulon, wake up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Toulon are getting tetchy. Good stuff. Another 3 pointer from Racing and they're going to start to feel a bit of pressure and hopefully panic. They don't have the multiple cool heads they once had.

    Come on racing

Michalak is on the bench to offer a cool head. :)

It'll be interesting to see how Racing handle this 10 minutes with yer an in the bin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Chiocci binned and 4 points down. Toulon's bench is pretty callow, no gamechangers there tbh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Jesus. That one would have been out on the full if the pitch was 10m wider.

It's ironic you guys are arguing about red cards leading to inevitable defeats...

Aw hell - really hoped Racing would score there. Some great offloading.

    Goosen is a fantastic player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    What a cheap penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,433 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

    Bloody hell, Racing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I don't see Toulon's bench as being strong enough to turn this around even with the extra man.

They've looked very pedestrian in the backs despite their talent out there.

And now a try! Im loving this! Go Racing!

Ah, I get it now. If you go down to 14 men you are statistically more likely to win. Got it.

Although in fairness it is 14 vs 14 of course at the moment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I want them to win but Racing are way offside all night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭Absoluvely

Never seen a team concede 20 unanswered points against 14 men.

    Toulon deserve everything they get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭swiwi_

Why is HP not in NZ?

Has he retired from international rugby?

Or just not picked by Gatland?

Not fit for the start of the tour I think.

Toulon conceded 11 when it was 14 v 14 in fairness.

I thought Goosen would get a stack of caps for SA. Seriously shafted by the Boks coaches. Not really sure he's a 13, but he's a handy player.
