Well welcome to Boards, and well done to the Toon. Hopefully Leeds will be back up there too in a couple of years.

To answer your question, well no, it's not really like Facebook at all. Boards is split into categories, you'll see them at the top of your screen, Arts, Biz, Edu, etc. If you hover over them you'll see drop down menus with various forums. Have a look around them and see if there's anything that particularly interests you. After clicking on a forum you'll see threads, just like this one. each will generally be about a different topic related to the forum. You can post in any thread you like, but before doing so you should read the charter of the forum you intend posting in, it's usually near the top of the forum's front page. This sets out the rules of the forum, and while they're all broadly the same, there are enough differences between them that you can't assume that if you've read one you've read them all. You may find this helpful, and also this forum if you have any questions. Have fun!

Oh, one other thing, we don't like text speak on Boards, it tends to annoy people, so you're best off not using it.
