Does anyone know what xtravision are like to deal with if a TV or something is not working properly. i know the law but do not want the hassle of having to invoke SOGSOS. I want to buy some thing which some reviews says is not great but most reviews are good. If I get a bad one what can I expect in terms of refund etc

I have only bought something there once because my experience of them was terrible.I returned a dvd recorder that cost 250 quid and would not record after 29 days and they told me they only accepted returns made within 28 days of purchase.

Then started a long and painful time of ringing the shop and the head office and writing to them and calling in to see the manager who was never there when he said he would be etc. Even after sending them info about there being a known fault with the dvd recorder the people in the head office wouldn't budge on the return issue either .Short of me going up to beat them over the head with the "SOGASOS" act they weren't going to listen to me.

I did ring the manufacturer Philips at one stage and the guy I spoke to immediately asked "did you buy this in xtravision?". He said they were constantly pulling this "take it up with the manufacturer" nonsense.

I would recommend you avoid them.

Thanks for the reply. That is clearly in breach of SOGSAS. I would hate to be caught up in the hassle with smalls claims etc even though I know I would be right. Trouble is they have a good price on what I want:(

In my experience, if you want to purchase a TV, go to a specialised TV Retailer. You may pay a little bit more but you get peace of mind.

You spin the wheel and take your chances with the likes of XtraVision, Lidl, Tescos, etc. You get what you pay for.

I currently have a case pending agiainst them in the Small Claims Court. Have to say their Costumer Service is pretty poor. I wont be buying from them again and nor would I recommend them to anybody, or Sony for that matter.

Never had any issue returning an item to Lidl, in fact I found them better to deal with than the main retailers.

Yup, no fuss with the germans. Really it comes from the top, the people in the shops or at the end of the phone on customer services are only doing as they are told. In some cases whether they know it not they are being told to break the law

A review does not mean a product is faulty or not,Xtv would not be liable in such a case.If there are some unfavourable reviews then get out now before you buy!
