    Interesting read below...
    basically country town decided since BT couldn't be bothered to bring them broadband they'd do it themselves.
    Also had to laugh at BT's comments...what a cheek :)

    We don't live in Villages like the UK, We have a rural population with houses scattered miles from each other

    There are Villages all over Ireland, there's even a dedicated website,

    If the main Telecom Providers are not willing to provide a service to customers based on there location then fair play to people who get together and do it for themselves.

    Still need backhaul and in fairness the setup in the UK is different to Ireland when it comes to using existing exchanges and cost of doing so,
