Running older 'exotic' cars

Morning all, ive gotten that familiar need to change my car itch, as some of you know i have inexplicably ended up in a mk2 audi TT having previously owned a bmw z4 coupe (over the past 18 months).

Now the TT is very nicely put together and quick enough for most people, it unfortunately doesnt stir the soul, when i get back from honeymoon in June it will be up for the chop.

Ive done about 8,000km in the past year and i dont see that going up, with that in mind im going to limit what i spend on my next car to a max of 30k, and less if i can manage it.

ive been thinking about the options, something from the BMW m stable could be a runner again (id buy a minty e46 m3 if one were to come up), i was also consdering an e92 335i, 987 boxster s, 996 911 (if the right one came up).

However ive also been thinking about something a little more exotic, like an aston DB7 (3.2 s/c) or a maser 3200/4200.

Is it lunacy to be contemplating something like this, are they going to break my heart to run one (even at the low mileage that i do?)

there was more to it than that eoin altho that was a consideration at the time, however as the missus will be changing shortly enough, the practicality of my car will be less important than before

Cheap Porsche that. They do seem to suffer a few engine problems though from head gasket to cracked cylinder liners. I wonder if all is well.

As a general answer to your question about running costs, I've been running a '99 XK8 for the past 2 years. I've done about 10k miles in that time. I've bought 2 tyres - €500, a pulley for the fan belt - €40 and had the airflow meter repaired - €110.
Other than these, only regular tax/fuel/insurance costs. So pretty cheap really

if that is for sale anywhere near Ballinalard outside Tipperary town forget about it! Saw one in a shed there a few years ago with the front end rightly smashed up, it was that colour too.

At the right price, it won't matter. Hartech or Autofarm in the UK, will sort you a permanently sorted solutioin - and even upgraded - for GBP£7500. Add that in, it's and even better car, and it's an even better idea.

OP - Corvette you say ? oh, and the LHD is a non-issue, tbh. I know on my next car LHD is ON the list.

As nice as the e46 M3 is; given that you already sold a very nice model in a lovely colour combo - is there not a good chance you'd get the itch to change even quicker again?
