I should be grand for getting out to the airport.
One of my parents should be leaving me and my OH out, and maybe one or two of my mates.
The prices of flights is up to €117 now but only €70 if they leave on Sunday instead... They're not quite sure what they're doing yet.
Buying tickets on the day was an idea because flights do usually go way down but that is really risky.

I told them they should have bought their tickets ages ago.

I think that means Cooltrainer/Ace Trainer territory, and not player character territory amirite ;)

    Pikahoodie FTW!

Is everyone that's going got everyone's phone number for the epic meet up at the airport?

Perhaps I should suggest meeting in the Landside (before security) at the Mezzanine Food Court (top floor above the check in and security) since that's always got seats and 24 hour tea/coffee shops. But after 5.30-5.40ish I (dunno about anyone else) will leave to catch the flight

    Is anyone else EXCITED?!!!?

    Is anyone else EXCITED?!!!?

    Excited, scared...

Good idea setting a meeting place now, it'll save us wandering around the airport.

I have my team sheet printed and filled out, but I'm still second guessing my teams moves :o

Well I have yours and Cians numbers so I should be ok. Anyone wants mine just drop me a PM :)

Yes very excited! My uncle is going on holidays at about the same time too on sat so I'm just going to go in the taxi with him as I can't be arsed driving :D Good place to meet, is that where McDonalds is?

Also going to throw together a sort of new pokéteam tonight and grind like hell as I'm not happy with the one I had =/ Aaah fast decisions! Although if I win I win, if I lose I lose. 'Tis only a bit of craic at the end of the day :)

Where do you get the team sheets to fill out?! I completely forgot about that!! :|

That meeting place sounds good to me.
And since I'm in no way protective of my phone number...

I've still not written my out yet, something to do when I have a cup of tea later on tonight

Yes and it has a 24 hour Starbucks and two other random 24 hour coffee shops

My final team member joined when I was in that kind of mood, hopefully he'll come through for me. We'll go and have good craic anyway!

I will have two spare team sheets on me and they will have team sheets at the event, it's just easier to have it ready to go and not have to nerves making your hand writing look like Onix tracks...

    DON'T FORGET YOUR POKéWALKERS EVERYONE!!

So I think I have my team now, only one poké needs to be leveled up. Been scouring through all the gba games to see what I got :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

So we're stuck in Birmingam airport :P Not really, our flight has been delayed by an hour so not too bad, but we're all tired :(

    All went well though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 866 ✭✭✭Buzzthebatgirl

I'm still as tired as I was last night, but still made it to Cork anyway ^_^

My mind has been working overtime all morning and came up with an idea of going to at least one more of the VCG Europe legs (costs of flights/trains/buses and accomedation pending of course), would anyone be up for it?

And I also had another thought on Imprison stuff:

    Smeargle@Focus Sash
    -Water Spout/Explosion
    -Protect/Transform
    -Dark Void
    -Imprison

Note:upon using Transform the new moves are also Imprisoned

That would seriously depend on costs for me

Yeah, as I said earlier, I'd love to go but It depends on how much money I can make.

A thought, has a ferry/train been taken into account?
I know they're mad expensive with a car but no idea what they're like just walking on.
    Probably still mad expensive actually...

Oh yeah, I've a new Rhyperior. Really nice attack and hp and he's only at level 54, with out EVing or any performance drugs.
    I'm going to give him.

    I'm thinking.
    Earthquake
    Protect
    Trick Room
    Fling - Iron Ball.

I'm not sure about Trick Room though, I may teach that to Lugia and use it in my team... I hate Legendaries but I have learnt my PalkiaLesson!

I've also got a Scizor now, nothing special so far.
There's a Wailord here, but I'm breathing for good natures.
Same with a Snover, a Seadra and a Hippodon.

I want to evolve my Houndour and train my Probopass and Bronzong.

A lot to be done, but I will be taking the next time round A LOT more seriously.

That was something I didn't think of actually. I forget that option exists since I can't drive.

Can someone look into the cost of hiring a car and getting a ferry (if possible) to:
    Colonge, Germany
    Lyon, France
    and
    Madrid, Spain
please and thank you in advance ^_^
    CianRyan wrote: »

My awesome future husband priced up flights earlier today the cheapest we (he) could find were all Aer Lingus and details are as follows:

    Lyon, France:
Travel out Friday afternoon and return Sunday afternoon/early evening @ €158.10
(it's an extra €10 if you don't have a Visa Debit card)

    Madrid, Spain:
    1 seat left @ €78 leaves Saturday @ 06.40 or so
Other seats are €10 more same day at same time (same flight)
(it's an extra €10 if you don't have a Visa Debit card, again)
Returns Monday @ 10.30am, but you can return on Sunday evening for an extra €70

THESE TRIPS CAN NOT BE DONE OVER NIGHT

We still need to price a place to stay. I've been informed that Hostel World offers good prices. I'm going to bed as soon as this post is up (since I've only had about 6-7 hours sleep in the last two days and I am totally wreaked), could someone please have a look there. I will check it out myself once I've used REST

Hmmm, I dunno if I can spring THAT much for continental Europe meetings. I need to try starting to save a good amount of money for the anime conventions this year...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,066 ✭✭✭elekid

^ I love that Imprison strategy, very clever.

I'm going to give the other legs of VGC a miss this year, I've already used up all of my annual leave in work and I want to save my money so that I can buy a mountain of Pokémon merchandise in Japan in October!

So how did you guys in the Senior Tournament fare on Saturday? My son went through "green" and "orange" stages and got knocked out in "purple"...

Given that we arrived at 8ish and queued in, queued for the tournament registration and then queued for access to the battlezone, I couldn't hack queuing for the senior tournament as well given that I wasn't as keen as you guys going in anyway. We ended up leaving around midday.

Apparently my girlfriend met everyone while I was watching the wee man, though - shame I didn't. Be really interested to find out how ye did!

It'd take somewhere between "all day" and "all weekend" to get to Cologne, Lyon, or Madrid by car (from Dublin, Madrid 33 hours, Cologne 14 hours, Lyon 24 hours)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 Rocket Butch

I tried to put it into a train booking system but it blew up.

Well that's not strictly true. If you leave Dublin port at 0845 on Friday the 4th you'll get to Cologne for 0744 on Saturday morning, but the timing and changes are utterly cruel.

Then I tried to get the price, and the system did blow up :D

Looking at some hostels €18 per night for a room for three, with private bathroom ensuite http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Equity-Point-Metropol/Madrid/3156.

there is also a video of the place on the same page.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 Rocket Butch

The €78 flights to Madrid are gone; it's now €88 with 4 seats left at that price. The next price will be €98. [€10 more if you don't have a Visa debit card.]

That's €18 per head per night, which is certainly a good price.

Plus ensuite bathroom!! No nasty group showers.

I'm booked in on the flight, I've booked the aformentioned Hostel that SamIamNot found. I only had to put one name on the booking for the three. Since SamIamNot has confirmed with me that he is coming we have one more spot to fill in the hostel. So come on who's up for Boards.ies going to Madrid?

    Details:
    Flights €80-€90
    Fly out Saturday, back Monday
Hostel €40ish for 2 nights (service charge may apply)

Prices may change rapidly, so it's fastest finger first

(Also, currently trying to drag along my friend, seeing as that tournament is what's dragging me along to nom!)

Doubles, Flat Battle, no legends, Species clause, items clause and Dark Void is banned. I'm the one running it, that is when they get the al' act together and get the info up on the site

I'm reeeeealy wanting to go to Madrid now :D I'll still have to sort some stuff out though but hopefully I can make it :)

Also if I do go, I'll need to sort out my team ASAP!

    Start busking on Grafton Street!

Teams can be worked out, many hands make breeding go easier. I am available Friday so if anyone wants to do epic team grinding in town or random PBR battles at my gaff ^_^

I'm finally back at my gaff so here's my photos from VGC with my travel sized mascot Nicky the Devil in tow.

My Photobucket is fail tonight so enjoy my Facebook collection

Thanks, though actually, I don't think that was my one - we were standing just outside the battle area for Elliot about to start and the woman with the microphone was interviewing that kid.

"Where are you here from today?"
    "I'm fra' Caaaaaahrk!"

We fell about laughing and then gave him a cheer as well. We're Dublin, us. Interestingly the family in front of us in the queue was from Dublin as well - a German family who had their oldest daughter competing in the Juniors! I say we mount an Irish takeover of the event next year.

The true capital of the world! What a good lad, he should have won from just being from Cork!
I'm from Ireland, but more importantly I'm from Caaaaaaaaaahrk!

I can design and print T-shirt transfers for those of us going to Madrid, we can get professional ones next year when the whole of Ireland goes, but these might do for what we need.

My planned design is perhaps having the Boards.ie done in the Pokémon font with the player's favourite Pokémon hanging on or off the sign. A similar idea to the Pokémon Center store logos:
    Pokemon_Center_Osaka_Logo.gif
I'll sketch up a design when I've done IV checks and had some sweet coffee. I'm still tired!! I did mix up my dates for my interview, it's on tomorrow, not today! I can relaxxxxxxxxxx....

Heheheh. I'm seeing a team now... "Shandon" the Bronzong, "Blarney" the Graveller, "Bishop Lucey" the Roserade, "Crawford" the Smeargle, and then Nidoran female "Beyore" and Nidoran male "Feen" to finish it out.

    I'll get my coat.

I've managed to track down the guy who was doing the filming at VGC, he's making a documentary for this site Videogamer.com. When it's up I'll get a link so you can enjoy watching me make a fool of myself ^_^

And before I forget here's some rough designs for the T-shirts I made while at work today. The final artwork will be coloured in Paintshop and on model, I just can't remember what all the Pokémon look like without reference :o. Let me know if you love/like/hate/or can't read the text. Oh and feel free to suggest some more stuff, I like to draw ^_^

At this stage, I won't be in Madrid but I will want a cool team shirt for the next tournament. :)

Yeah just found out I won't be able to make Madrid either, gutted D:

Kick some ass for boards though!!

I won't be able to go to any of the Europe Pokemon championships either. Which is a pity as I am liking the look of the T-shirts. Next year hopefully.

I like the Smergle one or the pokeball with irish flag on it.

I'll sketch up some better sketches for the Smeargle and Irish Flag Ball in Paintshop and blast 'em up here.

Whichever the Board.ies like we can settle with. As a prototype I'll use iron-on transfers to see how it looks. You don't have to be going to VGC to get a T-shirt guys!

There is nothing stopping us getting T-shirts printed professionally, it would be a great way for new members to spot us at the Spire for our Meet Ups!
