    There has been a lot of talk about the "Irish" banks increasing their interest rates over the coming months!

    Is Ulster Bank considered to be one of these "Irish" bank? Does UB base their rates on the ECB or bank of england?

    I'm asking this questions as I've just come off a fixed with UB and I'm woundering to fix or stay with their Variable rate or consider switching?

    Which other banks are available for business (apart from AIB)?

    For Info the rates offered are;
    Fixed Dec 2011 - 4.0% APR
    Fixed Dec 2012 - 4.3% APR
    Fixed Dec 2013 - 4.3% APR
    Variable - 3.8 APR

    They base their rates on ECB
    when in the ROI

    But in NI they base their rates on Bank Of England rates.

    AIB are not accepting switchers. BOI would be your best bet
