Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can't imagine that Jason's recollection of that time would be anything other than grim. After all, the hazing began pretty much from the minute they arrived in Japan.

i'd have to say if i was asked to join metallica in 86 i'd be too ecstatic to even notice the hazing!

There's a clip of about 15 seconds of a new song to listen to in the fan club section of metallica.com.

That has been removed due to copyright. Just be careful if searching for 'Metallica - NEW SONG 2016' as it's not all what it seems.

Heard the few seconds of music, vocals sound pretty good.

If their new stuff sounds as good as their last few recordings especially that great Dio medley they did, I'll be pleased.

Thought the Dio medley was the s**t!

Thought the Dio-medley sounded very compressed.

It did sound compressed but apart from that the guitars, drums, bass and vocals sounded damned fine. If it wasn't compressed it would have been the best sounding thing they did since Garage Inc

Kind of in two minds on this. The cover band should know better than to go using the metallica logo / name in fairness. if you look at the metallica cover bands we'd see over here (Metallicia spring to mind), they meld the metallica logo into their own name, which I presume is fine, whereas this band seem to be using the metallica logo directly, which is not ok. Petty, but then the law usually is.

Interesting reading the comments on that article, where people are pointing out that it's fake.

Complete over the top article. There is nothing in the letter (if it is real) that'll stop the band playing Metallica's music.

I think the point was more that the band might not want to play Metallica's music anymore..

Well they can stop whenever they like. The only thing the letter asks is that they stop using the logo as fas as I can see

Hi Folks, I collect all things metallica. I'm currently looking for 2 ticket stubs (Ulster Hall 1986 and Antrim forum 1988) and I'm interested in flyers and posters from all dublin/belfast/antrim shows. If you have anything you'd like to part with please get in touch.

Would imagine it'll be the usual set-list early tomorrow morning. Not holding my breath for any new songs.

After Battery there's about 30 seconds of a song I'm not familiar with. Anyone know its it's a cover or part of a new song? (It's at about 1:42 into the show).

Dyres eve needs to be played more, serious focus on the older stuff in this set. I liked it. I'm not a fan of load and reload, not much from justice either.

We're working on a new record.... we're getting near the end. Don't want to get anyones hopes up too high, but it's coming to an end

I'd say this is the final album. Hopefully we'll see them in Ireland for the tour next year.

Just curious, what makes you think this will be Metallica's final album?? Would be cool to see them do a few shows in Dublin either this year or early 2017.

I actually hadn't thought about it until I read his post but now that I think of it, it might be true.

If they take as long between this one and the next as they did between DM and this one, it'll be 2024 or something before that one's ready to come out and God only knows what way the music industry will be then and whether bands will still actually be releasing albums as we know them now.

Ant I reckon Metallica will be full on nostalgia mode and by then and milking every last dollar out of touring or playing 6 month residencies at casinos in Las Vegas (finishing the set each night with Nothing Else Matters followed by Enter Sandman of course).

I think they are all about touring, the pressure was on for an album, and so be it after many years. The metallica train is about shows and selling those shows out . Making albums is not really a priority. Last night's gig in SF was Good, what do people expect? A megadeth set? I do hope they eventually remaster the justice album. They have a two week on and off schedule, happy life boys you deserved it.
