    Want to buy or build a Computer for HD Video Editing.
    No gaming at all.

    a lot of money for what you're getting.

    would you consider building your own pc? you could easily get a very good HD Video editing machine for about 600-700 euro

    No need for a soundcard btw, again not great value and you could save a lot and get better performance from building your own.

    So looks like its better to do a self build then.

    As im a complete novice to this.
    Anyone got a spec list of what I might need.

    Would prefer to use the i7 860 processor.

    Im not Gaming at all.. purely for HD Video editing.

    also check what video editing software youre going to use, check if it uses Cuda, if so make sure you get an Nvidia card, good options are Nvidia 260, but if you can spend more you could get an Nvidia 470.

    The gfx cards can convert video x4+ times faster than any cpu( even faster if you get a 470 )

    ahh ok, it doesnt support Cuda so just invest in the best CPU you can afford :)
