Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

From the cameras it now seems the plume is heading north for the first ime in a dew days.

I am looking west to see if I can see some contrails behind the mountains along the coast. Can't see anything but a load of mares tails being highlighted by the sun setting.

Just seen it going past here northwards... it's tail smoke is pretty cool, but breaks up very quickly it is just turning around North Mayo at the moment.

Wrong. Look at the sun shining at the ash plume. If it was heading north, the sun would have to shine from the south-southeast, which is pretty much impossible at this time of the day, isn't it :)

Yep snow, same here. Contrail breaking up on its back. Must be the same plane we are looking at! :)

Above me now is a plane turning very sharply. If Deep Easterly is here he will see it if he looks to his NW. The Jet stream streaks from his wings are very plain to see. Its very high up.

Can't see it now snaps. There seems to be an unusual bank of cloud up towards your side? Like a decending bank of altostratus?

Could be some residual smoke from further bog fires today or something. Either way, still there, although maybe it is closer to me than it looks.

Did Willie Walsh know that the UK airspace would be open?? Very risky thing to do, flights coming from North America and Africa according to radarvirtuel, just spotted a Thomas Cook plane from Greece up around Holland bound for Gatwick.

The airlines must have known that the airspace was gonna be open???

looks like the weather was lovely over the west,it was cloudy from around 8.30am here and all day with only the briefest of sunny breaks.
    that video is amazing

TBH id say there was some negotiating and BA told their flights to come in and if needs be can be diverted to Shannon and other EURO airports. Not a bad decision if you ask me, im sure passengers would prefer to be stuck closer to home!

That wasnt a tremor at Katla, it was a small 1.4 earthquake right under the erupting volcano, the first earthquake that close to the area of eruption for several days.

Looks like Wille faced them off and they backed down - they have changed their analysis of engine tolerance levels to the ash clouds - what a farce.

Well has anyone seen any spectactular sunsets because of the ash ?
Its been going on a week now the eruptions ,I wonder will the weather start to be affected?

Last Saturday there was a spectacular sunset, it looked like the sun was going to go behind a cloud as it set, it didn't as it was thick haze and it went a strange red colour.

    Hello folks,

I saw an aeroplane flying over Tipperary town at exactly 10pm tonight. The news reports say Aer lingus and Ryanair have cancelled schedules until tomorrow at least. I reckon this plane was flying from Shannon to Dublin. Test flight maybe?
