Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    They're all the options?!

Wazza for both out of those lists

Fabregas was immense for the first half of the season too

Tevez had a great season also

What is the age criteria for young player as Rooney is 24 now. Dont think Drogba has done anything different than in previous seasons and he never came close plus I dont think his fellow professionals like him TBH. Think Rooney will win it by a distance.

I'd go for Rooney for PFA and Fabregas for YPFA.

What is the criteria for YPFA anyways - Rooney is nearly 25 and Milner is no spring chicken either.

Drogba is having his best season by miles.

Anyway surely they need a younger age limit for young player? I didn't think Rooney and Milner could still be in that category.

One of his best, he scored 33 a few seasons back.

    Was he nominated back then?

How can Rooney still qualify for Young Player?

Must be because Carlos is a shoe in for the senior award and they want to give poor Wazza something ;)

    PFA -> Rooney
    YPFA -> Cesc

If you think Rooney is going to win POTY then of course he has to win YPOTY, how can he not?

Anyone know when these were voted on?

    Probably October or somethin, right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

You have to be 23 or younger at the start of the season to qualify for Young player.

    Rooney and Cesc.

    next.

Milner might be a good outside bet for it, but it has to be those two.

    Drogba
    Rooney

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,273 ✭✭✭racso1975

yup hart has been most consistent, less injury prone and been a real revelation. Must of been december voting for hart to appear imo. Them tevez or rooney

exactly. If he's nominated for both and wins the overall award then surely he is also the best in the young player bracket.

As did Andy Gray years ago.

However the voting is different so its possible to win the top one and not the bottom. For me, its a tough choice, but I'd have to give it to Rooney who has been utterly outstanding this year, and when they were voting, which is normally around Feb-March, he was in flying form. Fabregas is obviously a close second imo, with Drogba coming in third. Milner deserves an honourable mention.

if rooney is POTY how can he not be YPOTY
    (1) Because it's based on players' votes. So they might not vote 'logically'.
    (2) They might take different things into account for YPOTY (i.e. breakthrough season or whatever).
    (3) They might want to see two players recognised.

I'm sure there are more reasons too, even if they're not purely logical.

I'd be surprised if many players voted for the same player in both categories.

I'd go for Rooney for POTY but not by much. Tevez,Drogba & Fabregas have all been amazing this season aswell.

    Fabregas for YPOTY.

I think it's a fair enough outcome. I can understand why the players didn't want Rooney having a monopoly on both awards. Glad to see he won the senior award.

come on lads its pretty bad tbh.

    Cesc and Hart

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Personally I think it's ridiculous that you can with both PFA and YPFA.

If your nominated for one you shouldnt be nominated for the other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Milner has been excellent this season, but how did he win it over Cesc? (and indeed Rooney)

Fabregas has 15 goals and 15 assists in 2188 minutes whereas Milner has 7 goals and 12 assists in 2992 minutes*

*stats taken from FF as of today so obviously it would have been different when they voted, quite possibly more in Cescs favour.

    malouda for me
