Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I see some around town that are missing wheels and stuff but just left locked there and untouched for weeks . Been wondering if its ok to take parts from them if they are abandoned? Its not like they were stolen and dumped, the owner would come back to their locked biked and discovered it had been stripped of parts and just left it there, who owns it now? Dublin city council? the public?

Legally speaking the owner of the bike owns the bike but if it's left somewhere, obviously unusable and the owner is uncontactable then it becomes the property of the council or relevant authority and they despose of it it. As such the law says no, you can't have these bikes, however the law also says you must use a cycle-lane when one is provided so the legislature is by no means infallible so maybe use you're own common sense and moral compass.
I wouldn't feel comfortable cutting a lock even a clearly abandoned bike (mostly because I wouldn't want to get caught/feel dodgy) but I have taken a vaguely servicable bike from a skip and a frame out of an aul hedge and I don't see a problem with that.
