I'd doubt Lowry and Dorothy Perkins have much in common alright.

......Lowry's first shot in the paid ranks was in the European Open. Paul McGinley and Anthony Wall were there to witness his drive at the first at the London Golf Club in Kent. The spotlight was on him and he buckled.

His opening round 78 was followed by a 73. He was back in Clara by nightfall. Missed cuts were to follow at Celtic Manor and Munich. Three tournaments played and three weekends off. It wasn't meant to be like this. The doubters and the critics began to surface. The victory in Baltray was a once-off...............

What complete and utter tosh! Trying to create a story where there is none!

Get your facts right. He was 2 off making the cut and was playing 17 when he was called off the course. He had already played 3 shots on 17 and was looking at bogey. He'd have needed to have holed his tee shot on 18 to have any chance of making the cut. Considering the hole was 400 plus yards long, i think he was justified in heading home and avoiding the cost of another uneccessary night on the road.

Can't wait to see him tee it up at St Andrews!!

    But he NR.

We complain about it on here if someone does it in a club comp so it is ok for pros to do it.

Who knew what could have happened with the cut line. He might have held his 2nd for eagle and scraped in.

You don't know what you're talking about here. Do you really think someone who is battling for his life to keep his card for next year would have walked away if there was any chance at all of making the cut and with it even a small cheque?

This is the same guy who been out on the challenge tour this season and, had he failed at Q school for 2010, was quite prepared to have spent the entire year on the challenge tour.

Pretty decent year for lowry so far. Only 3 missed cuts. Qualifying for the open. Just about in the world top 100. On the edge of the race to dubai top 60.

All of this on courses i presume he's never played before, and countries he might not have been to before.

The 5th in abu dhabi in a class field was the only big performance i suppose.

Still i think he stands a good chance of making the USPGA if he stays in the top 100.

I see that Lowry has moved to 100 on the updated World Rankings this morning.

He's past it. Actually... to be past it you have have to have been good in the first place.
