New bike which to choose!!!

I am currently in the market for a new rothar, i currently ride a BH B2 tripple nice we bike, very comfortable but fancy a change was budgeting around the 1200 mark...i really like the Orbea but cant source on eup my end in Donegal..there are plenty treks about but i dont like the riding position of them for some reason, also i dont like giants do they are out to!!!

was thinking on the following

The Pinarello would be roughly the same price as the Merckx (and the Colnago), but they both have Shimano Tiagra which is good but in my veiw not as good a the Shimano 105 which the Ridley and Colnago both have. From what i can tell there all aluminium and all have carbon forks. For value i would go for the Colnago, but have you looked at these:

If you look at the reviews for this one reviewer says

Yet they are charging 1249 euro, I'm not a math-i-magician but someone is wrong here

Whilst there's nothing wrong with Tiagra in isolation, if you're upgrading from a perfectly good bike I think it makes sense to go with 10sp (105, Rival, Veloce and upwards).

Of the ones you listed that Colnago Primavera looks nice and has a good spec.

I would personally go for something like a Boardman Team Carbon but that's just my SRAM fetish.

The green colour is called "Celeste", very traditional. There are some people who think Bianchis should always be in that colour and should only have campagnolo groupsets (to keep things Italian), and as a consequence you see eleventy million campag-equippped Celeste Bianchis at most sportives.

in the middle of negotiating the price here now with a firm in Belfast and i am going with the 'Celeste' option!! excuss my earlier ignorance lol

I got a run on a campag colnago set up yesterday v nice gear set up i think..

wat is the view of the posters on 105 v compag set up?

From the perspective of using them on the bike, 105 and Veloce (similar prices I think) are both fine. They're both 10 speed at the rear, Veloce is lighter and has a more "positive" (clunky) shift action, which is more or less nice depending on personal preference. I prefer it.

The main issue with Campag is that the components are not compatible with Shimano and SRAM, but for most uses it makes little difference, just make sure you get campag-compatible wheels if you buy them seperately from the bike.

If I was buying a celeste Bianchi, it would probably have Campag. Campag looks better which is the most important thing.

This is of course if you get a choice. A lot of Bianchis are fixed spec for the UK market (which we are part of) and come with Shimano as the only option.

Whatever you end up with it'll work just fine.
