Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi. Car is broken down and need a bike for the next two weeks. Have one at home but it's very flat and quite small. Does anyone know anywhere in Galway that do tradeins? Also , anything I need to look out for when getting a bike? If I have to get a new one what would I be looking to spend? Thanks!

If you're only going to be using it for two weeks until the car is fixed is there not a friend/relative/neighbour that could lend you a bike rather than you shelling out for a new bike that's going to be thrown into a shed after a few days use never to be seen again?
However if you plan on using the bike for more than just until the car is fixed then there are a number of things to look out for.
First off you've got to establish your budget (also are you eligible for the cycle-to-work scheme?). I think most people on here would agree that if you have less than 200-300 euro there's no point buying something new and you're better off trying to find something decent second hand.
Also, if you're going to be cycling on the road, even the crummiest of crappiest of country lanes you don't need a mountain bike, a good hybrid/commuter bike will be much more comfortable and easier to ride.
Also, stay away from things like argos bikes, go to somewhere like Nigels on the Tuam road and see if they have anything to suit your tastes and budget.
