    Alright lads,

Someone posted a similar thread for Melbourne, so I reckon there should be one for Sydney :)

I don't have any myself just yet ;) But if you find any good deals on stuff, cheap drink, cheap steak(!), or anything else worth mentioning, then fire it up and share it with the rest of us :pac:

Great Idea, Here's a few well knowns and not so well knowns!

    Drink & Food:

    - Star Bar, (Beside Town Hall) George Street - $3.50 House Schooners, Spirits and Wine Mon-Fri 5-11, Decent enough grub here as well.

    - Bar Century, 640 George St (above Hungry Jacks) - $3 Drinks all day every day (according to the banner outside, haven't ventured in there yet)

    - Scruffy Murphys, Goulburn St , $6.95 300gr Steak with sauce and chips (and it actually tastes good) - the place is a kip however :)

    - Thai Brown Rice - Shop 76, Spring St, Bondi Junction - Hidden away from the hustle and bussle :) , some tasty food here for next to nothing!

    - Paddys Market, Haymarket for fresh fruit and veg (a third of the price of what coles and woolies)

    - Pitt Street - Loads of nice little asian places to eat

    - China Town - Same as above

    - Entertainment book - Card that gets massive discounts on eating out, cinema tickets, etc costs $65 but worth every cent http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/

    Drink (bottle shop):

    - Cheap drink search engine: http://boozle.com.au

    - Dan Murphys (lowest price guarantee) http://www.danmurphys.com.au/

    - Jackswine: http://www.jackswine.com.au (got 36 bottles of nice white there for 99$ and $18 postage)

    - Wine Market - Some good deals here sometimes http://www.winemarket.com.au

    IT Stuff:

    - OrangeIT (used them a few times very cheap) - http://orangeit.com.au

    - MSY (never used them but they seem cheap) - http://www.msy.com.au

    Food Shop Loyalty:

    - Coles / Kmart Flybuys Loyalty Card http://www.flybuys.com.au

    - Woolies everyday rewards https://everydayrewards.com.au/ (you can get a free Quantas Frequent Flyer card worth $82.50)

Kitchen Utensils/ Appliances & Bed Linen:

    - Woolworths Homeware (upstairs in Town Hall wollies (possibly in other stores) - Good quality keenly priced stuff.

    - Hot Dollar (World square, Bondi and other locations) - When I lived in bondi this place did some really good homeware stuff (not like the tat you see in the euro 2 shops back home)

    Car Rental:

    - No birds, William St, Kingscross: http://www.bayswatercarrental.com.au/ - A+ have used them several times and absolutely NO HIDDEN CHARGES and have worked out as the cheapest.

    Chemist / Toiletries:

These can be ridiculously cheap, for example 100 paracetamol tabs under the brand 'Panamax' cost $2 or so.

    - Chemist Warehouse (various locations) http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au

    - Priceline (various locations) http://www.priceline.com.au/Pharmacy

    Flights:

    - Webjet - http://webjet.com.au - Multiple airline carrier price search engine (AFAIK they charge a fee on top of the flight price so best to scope the price and go direct to the carriers website and see which works out cheaper) :D

    Accomodation:

    - Wotif http://wotif.com.au - Accomodation search engine

Haven't tried KC Hotel but Sugarmill is a pretty decent alternative to the Bourbon.

Also, St James Hotel on Castlereagh doesn a decent cheap steak, think it's a bit more than $10 though

For kitchen utensils/homewares, I find Victorias Basement very good..downstairs in the QVB

judging by the price of the drinks in the sugarmill i never considered for food, must try that!! apparently theres a bar on the corner (opposite hugos) near candys apartment thats meant to be good for steaks too.

I was brought out for a lovely meal in the big casino complex in melbourne when i was there on business and my steak was $60 or something (& $8 for pepper sauce, $10 for sides etc.) , and i still didnt enjoy it as much as the burbon $10 one!!

Mansions? Haven't been there in a few years, but the steaks have been of a decent standard in the past...think they used to be like $8 too! Best I've had in Sydney is Kellys Steakhouse in Westfield, Bondi Jct...the hot bite is amazing

Kingsleys in Woolloomooloo I find that bit nicer, but I really can't complain with either.

Cheap Tuesday is pretty much an Aussie tradition, bargains every Tuesday in loads of bars, restaurants, cinemas etc. The thought of businesses being kind/ sensible enough back home to bother putting on any kind of discount days/ times is completely alien. FFS I can get a Dominos pizza that costs 14 euro back home for the equiv of 4.10 odd euro on a Tuesday (fair enough, it isnt half as nice as back home but still, fills ya up!)

About time. Mind you when I was leaving bought a ton of clothes that were two thirds of their old price.

Dave- Paddys Market sells alot of ****e, but some decent gear as well, all knockdown prices (shop around in there mind, you can see one piece of clobber for one price and its half the price 3 stalls down)

$5.90?! Fockin ell, I reckon I can't pass up that bargain

Anyone see those ads for Coles lately? A load of meal ideas that can be got for less than $10. We're givin all those a go :p Made the fettucini bolognese yesterday, pretty bland though cos it's just a tin of tomatoes thrown in. Would rather some Dolmio tbh :D There's a few that look good though

Any suggestions for cheap stubbies? It seems to be on average $45 for 24. Anywhere do it for less than 40? Not that we've been drinkin much beer :p 3 bottles of wine for $20 in the local offo! I'm sure there's cheaper out there -- any suggestions? :D

yeah coles $10 meals are really stretching it, and fine print says it's based on portion size.

Not too much cheap stubbies around but can have a look at the beer of teh month
    http://bws1.ngcache.net/media/admin/776/_/lk9tjjx5ay9tcsgks8/BeerOfMonth_TED.pdf
    decent price.

For wine, try bottles of clean(or clear)skin, they are usually wines without labels. i.e. over produced wine, and they just stick in in a crap bottle.

they can be anywhere from $5-$8 each
but looking for cheaper than 3bottles for $20! .. unless you hit the goon you won't get much better

Read my post :) I got 36 bottles of wine (and it's decent) for $99 (+18 postage) recently, works out at $3.28 a bottle! i think a bottle of coke in the 7-11 is more expensive!

Also Liquorland, etc are nearly always doing 2 boxes of beer for 65/70 bucks
check http://www.boozle.com.au for cheapest beers in your area

Thw $10 meals are bogus, portions are tiny. And a lot of the things you need aren't counted towards the $10, damn salt and pepper :D

As for beer, I'd never pay $45 unles it was cider. I normally pay 40ish for 24 extra dry, or get 2 for 70, 3 for 100 if buying more than one.

Not really jaw dropping bargains but I find them useful

Hurricanes - Junior Ribs & Burger only $7/$8 and is a decent sized feed by any man's standards. Aside from that, the Ribs are the nicest I have ever eaten in my entire life!

Bondi Rats RSL - $8 Steak on Wednesday with Chips & Salad/Veg...very tastey I have to say and have not had a nicer steak in Sydney.

Little Gourmet Pizza Shop - $34 2 person meal deal - 2 pizza's, drink & garlic bread. Nicest Pizza I have eaten over here. Granted its not that cheap but compared to a lot of the places around it is a decent size and far nicer.

Ravesi's, Bondi Beach on a Monday - $10 the Menu and $3 schooners from 5pm - 7:30pm. Food is really nice and cheap beer is always welcome.

Beach Road Hotel - $15 Ribs & Schooner on a Wednesday

No guessing where I live by the way :P

Rizzy's is far nicer than Gourmet
I'm not sure if he does deals or anything, but his pizza is the best in bondi, I thought I'd tell you since you obviously are that area

Is it actually called Rizzy's? Must try and pick up a menu...get about 20 menu's a week in the mailbox but none for that place?!

Cheers man, will definitely try it out :)

I made the bolognese also, but first time round found it dry..so used two tins of tomatoes and threw in extra basil next time round...result delish!
ended up costing over $10 tho...

If you like cheap pizza (and I sure do!), then check out La Casa Pasta. There's (apparently) branches in Kings Cross and Wynyard, but the one I was at is on Glebe Point Road. They do large (around the size of a normal Dominos pizza) pizzas for $5 a go, think it might be a lunchtime special though. The $5 ones are only for a few different types, but the La Casa Special is pretty nice. They also do Margherita, Vegetariana, Mushroom and Napoletana (didn't like that one).

Might grab a couple for the football tonight :)

    Nice for lunch

The $10 steak in the Sugar Mill is great value and great tasting. They also have $3or$4 drink deals during till 7pm.
Less impressed with the Kings Hotel steak tbh and drink price.

ok this might just be the bargain of the year.....

become dive certified for $125 (sydney) , and that includes a dive mask and snorkel to keep.....

valued at $675 so its a saving of 81%.

these offers usually only run for 24 hours so if you are thinking of purchasing it then get to it before its gone.

i actually have a list of these sites that have these type of offers in my email, i will post it soon.

    http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/268/only-125-to-learn-to-scuba-dive-at-sydney-underworld-normally-675

    heres the rest of em

(these links are mostly sydney based but some offer deals in brisbane/adelaide/melbourne/darwin etc )

....... always read the terms and conditions as sometimes for example in restaurant deals you are only allowed one offer per table so always double check that you are happy with the t/c's before you purchase it.
