Also, these characters may upgrade to:

    1. Ryo Sakazaki: Mr. Karate Jr. (Hyper Art).
    2. Leona Heidern: Blood Riot Leona (Latency).
    3. Iori Yagami: Blood Riot Iori (Latency).
    4. Takuma Sakazaki: Mr. Karate (Hyper Art).
    5. Ken Masters: Psycho Ken (Latency).
    6. Ryu Hoshi: Metsu (Hyper Art).
    7. Gouki: Ashura (Hyper Art).

Hyper Art: Ultimate Super Art. Voluntary activation by user.
Latency: Inert ability. Chance to activate increases as life meter decreases. Involuntary activation based on random chance that increases as life meter decreases.

You're hired, report into the Capcom Ireland offices on Monday.

"Capcom Ireland office" can't afford to hire me. >= )

What do you think of the list?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭Sairus

It's pretty extensive. To be honest, 80 characters seems a little insane - and the inclusion of non Capcom/SNK characters pretty muchs throws out any possibility that this list will be properly considered by anyone.
With regards to Latency, random chance is bad.

    Best list ever

The Latency system is meant to make the character with Latency unpredictable and "scary" to fight with.

I am just imagining how cool it would be to see Shiva from Bare Knuckle in action.

These 80 characters are divided into several tiers.

I don't really see the connection most of those characters have to each other tbh. If you go by the basic plot of the games most of the Fatal Fury characters have their obvious SF counterparts. Geese is SNK's version of Bison. The omnipresent badguy with the henchmen by his side. Also I'd say Ryu and Ken are Terry and Andy. And of course Raiden is Zangief. And so on.

Still though list or no list, I'd sell my own head to play Capcom vs SNK 3.

The most important thing is that Morrigan keeps the same sprite.

I don't think Geese's counterpart should be Vega. Geese, along with Krauser, and Mr. Big, are the three bosses of the SNK games. And that's why I'm pairing them with Gen, Sagat, and Eagle, who are the three bosses of the Street Fighter I game.

Vega's counterpart should be Rugal. Both are powerful, both head secret organizations, both are final bosses.

Yeah, I would love to see Capcom vs. SNK 3 happens too.

    And here are the tiers:

    Low tier:

    Starting characters:
    1. Dan Hibiki.
    2. Kasumi Todou.
    3. Yuri Sakazaki.
    4. Makoto.

    Unlocked characters:
    5. Joe Higashi, unlocked by beating Joe Higashi.
    6. Dee Jay, unlocked by beating Dee Jay.

    Regular:

Finishing low-tier with any character unlocks:
    1. Liu Kang.

Finishing low-tier with Dan Hibiki unlocks:
    2. Ibuki.
    3. Sakura Kasugano.

Finishing low-tier with Kasumi Todou unlocks:
    4. Blue Mary.
    5. Vanessa.
    6. Mai Shiranui.
    7. King.

Finishing low-tier with Yuri Sakazaki unlocks:
    8. Benimaru Nikaido.
    9. Andy Bogard.
    10. Leona Heidern.
    11. Ralf Jones.

    Finishing low-tier with Makoto unlocks:
    12. Elena.
    13. Dudley.

Finishing low-tier with Joe Higashi unlocks:
    14. Kim Kaphwan.
    15. Eiji Kisaragi.
    16. Clark Steel.

Ryu has a sir name in the exact same way Charlie's sirname is Blanka, if you follow me. :)

Gen and Eagle aren't bosses in Sf1, Adon and Sagat are, just FYI.

But Charlie's surname is also Nash. And he's dead. Many times over.

It doesn't matter anyway, because Capcom vs SNK vs Midway vs Technos vs Sega is never going to happen anyway.

That's only because Namco aren't involved. We need to get Soul Calibur characters in there and really work a 2d versus 3d game. It would be the first of its kind. I'm sure we could squeeze a few tekken characters in if we don't break the hundred mark.

    Also  Charlies a lawyer?!?!?!!!111/!!

Wikipedia says Ryu's surname is Hoshi, and we know that Wikipedia is the fount of all knowledge. :) I think it's Capcom official that his surname is Hoshi.

"Hoshi" means star, by the way.

Not going to happen, but nothing wrong with dreaming, is there? Imagine the spectacle of Shiva high-kicking Kyo's jaw up into the air, or one of the Double Dragons air-kneeing Sagat through a missed Tiger Shot.

Tekken is overdone. All accidents and no essence. Wouldn't want any of Tekken characters defiling a Capcom vs. SNK 3.

Soul Calibur, if we're doing weapon-fighting game. That's why I exclude all weapon-wielding characters from Capcom and SNK. They did a crossover of Final Fantasy and Soul Calibur characters once.

80 characters seems excessive, but would be nothing strange in a real world-wide fighting tournament, I think.

And thanks for welcoming me to the Forums.

Wikipedia mentions the surname "Hoshi" only in reference to the film. Since its never been mentioned in any of the games, other than Street Fighter The Movie The Game; I would assume it was addition for the film only.

That's right, actually. It's just Ryu then.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,966 ✭✭✭Scavenger XIII

While we're talking about these farcical things...

I think Ryu might have had Hoshi as a family name in the SF2V anime series, not sure though.

Series was kinda off but it wasn't a complete loss like the alpha stuff, Guile totally ruins Ryu in the first episode, what more do you want?

Then fights dirty to beat Ken in the second. He did have a hangover though.

I watched that one. You don't think it's canonical?

Also, I have some plots in mind:
    1. Krauser has hired Gen to assassinate Geese Howard, and Geese Howard has hired Freeman to assassinate both Krauser and Mr. Big.
    2. Kim Kaphwan is tasked with bringing the vigilante Remy to justice.
    3. A romantic triangle between Andy Bogard, Ibuki, and Mai Shiranui.
    4. Dhalsim seeks to banish Dmitri Maximov, Jeddah, Morrigan Aenslaed, Orochi, and Subzero back to the Underworld.
    5. Rivalry between Axel Stone and Cody Travers.
    6. Shiva is now henchman to Vega (Shadaloo General).
    7. Dan Hibiki needs to prove himself by defeating Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia, Yuri Sakazaki, and Takuma Sakazaki.

    Etc, etc.

I haven't seen it all myself but I saw a long list of non canonical things in V, including, apparently, the fact that Sagat doesn't hate Ryu after he beats him, they have a grudging friendship. Sagat ultimately does turn out to be a kind of "good" guy in the cannon but his all encompassing obsession with Ryu doesn't actually stop until sometime during the SF2 series, which is after V ends.

Lots of Street Fighter characters use weapons. From the main games, Vega, Cody, Viper, Rolento, Birdie, Sodom and Ibuki all do, and CapvSNK2 also had Eagle and Maki.

There was already a game with SF, Tekken, Soulcalibur etc: Namco x Capcom (PS2). You can find a fan translation online. Mind, it's a strategy game of some kind.

Th only way to get a CvS3 going would be if Capcom paid SNK a lot of money to create sprites from their SF4 3D models (ie, extremely unlikely).

Also, please don't create tier lists for non-existant games. It hurts my brain on too many levels.

    More ideas:

    1. There are 3 basic properties to each fighter: Strength, Agility, and Qi.
    2. There are 3 derivative properties to each fighter: Damage, Stamina, and Health.
    3. Strength and Qi values determine Damage and Health values.
    4. Strength, Qi, and Agility values determine Stamina Value.
    5. A Stamina Meter.
    6. A Block Meter.
    7. A Qi Meter takes the place of Super Meter.
    8. All normal attacks consume Stamina.
    9. All Special Moves consume Qi and Stamina.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29 StMichael

    More ideas:

    10. Blocking just in time executes Dodge (consumes Stamina), from which an instant counter attack is executable (consumes Stamina).
    11. Parry (consumes Qi and Stamina).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29 StMichael

    More ideas:

    12. Forward Forward from beyond a certain distance executes Run (consumes Stamina).
    13. Forward Forward from within a certain distance executes Dash (swifter than Run, consumes Stamina).
    14. Roll (consumes Stamina).
    15. Fall Recovery via Roll-ing (avoids being floored, consumes Stamina depending on height from which Fall Recovery is executed).
    16. Air Dodge (consumes Stamina).
    17. Block consumes Stamina, consumes Qi when blocking Special Moves, Super Arts, and Hyper Art.
    18. Likewise with Air Block, but it consumes more Stamina and more Qi.
    19. Depending on Qi level of each fighter, normal attacks, Special Moves, Super Arts, and even Hyper Art may Cancel each other. Canceling consumes Qi and Stamina.
    20. Charged Special Moves (takes time to charge and consumes more Qi than uncharged Special Moves).
    21. Stamina meter determines all kinds of movements (Jump, Walk, Run, Dash, everything) speed and range.
    22. Depending on Height, getting floored gives you damage.
    23. Floored opponent can be attacked by tackling or low kicking, and can block, counter attack, or Dodge into standing position (consumes more Stamina).
