Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

diesel oil in a petrol engine

i just realised i put diesel oil 10w40 in my petrol engine,will this damage the engine,its a 01 passat.

I put Castrol Diesel Edge in my S2000 - It meets all petrol specifications and is a very nice synthetic. Check the specs on the oil. You might be ok.

it's not going to damage your car unless used over a prolonged period. Change it next time you get a chance, actually it's a fine morning, i'd give my left nut to be out fiddling with my car but i'm stuck in work so you should do it today

The main difference is that diesel oil usually has more detergents to keep the carbon in suspension. I don't think it really matters.
Oil changes are more important than whether it is diesel or petrol oil.
