Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know what make/model of bike is used for the Dublin bike scheme bikes? Having tried them out and found them very easy to cycle round town I'd like to get something similar for myself.
    Thanks

I'm told they are a unique build created for the purpose of public bike schemes. All the parts are non-standard sizes so that people won't take bits off them. So you won't be able to buy the exact bike that they use.

I think some of the Pashley bikes would have a similar geometry, maybe the Princess Classic. Maybe someone else could suggest something closer though.

They're made by Mercier, a French company, according to this article:

But from what I could find out Mercier is now part of the Accell group:

    DBs use mostly standard parts.

Fair enough. Sorry to propagate that misinformation.

If you're in Dublin, City Cycles in Blackhall place probably have the best selection of the high nelly type bikes. Pashleys and cheaper Bombis.

Eurocycles on South William St also do them too, plus they do a Raleigh town bike also.

Sounds like you need a copenhagan style bike. Best thing yo do is have a look in a couple of bike shops...

As I posed in another thread recently:
Try a city bike type hybrid, like these:

    More here:

I'm just posting to this site because I've looked at it before, but most shops in Ireland will have these types of bikes.

Avoid the likes of Halfords -- you can get better bikes, made by well established brands, in well established often for around the same or just a little more. As above links show.

yep, I think the copenhagen style is what I'm looking for alright, checked out the Pashleys but a bit beyond my budget I think. Plus, living in Dublin I'm wary of buying anything that looks nice so maybe second hand is the way to go. Hoping to buy in the next month, I'll post a pic if I do
    Thanks for the info
