    I'm actually surprised how little is on that map in terms of areas likely to flood

    That is only for one moment in time. There are likely to be other places that flood.

    This is likely to be more accurate: http://www.floodmaps.ie/ Galway-Gort is a mess.

    Dont know what you mean by one moment in time, the areas of high flood risk have been exposed.

    The county council website is far more detailed than floodmaps.ie, all they seem to have are warning logo's over areas.
