Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He was a bit high with the challenge tbh

It was at the same height as Schweinsteiger's.

Someone raised the question of the possibility of whoever gets fourth not making it past the qualifier but if there anything like this they won't have a problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Very harsh..that was just a ref trying to even it up. Not fair on Lyon at all.

Both him and Schweinsteiger were. Toulalon won the ball so why was he the only one given a yellow? Little bit of evening up by the ref I think.

I'm gonna echo other here and say it's unfair on Toulalan getting booked there with Schweinsteiger not.

Fancy the game to open up now.

This is a seriously dull game for a semi-final. The only two things worth talking about so far have been the sendings off.

Nice to see karma getting Ribery back though, for getting Rafa sent off.

    god this match is brutal

Two terrible teams. Some of the finishing awful.

Looking forward to see that little weasel Dunphy being shut up when that terrible Bayern team is going to lift that trophy.

that was lovely from Robben - could have been a fantastic goal.

    I hope bayern win this

at least their showing some attacking display, Lyon have played for a draw tonight even when Ribery got sent off, nothing changed

Just stuck a big bet on 0-0 at 11/8...so that should guarantee a goal from someone!!!

I'd make Bayern 4th favourites to lift the trophy tbh.

    They are terrible

Seems to have done the trick. Game started to liven up a bit ;)

neither of these two would lift the trophy if all they had to do was walk on to the podium, judging by this they'd slip and get injured

they are no worse than Lyon imo.

I think they are, at their best, a better side than Lyon. I would make either Inter or Barcelona favourites ahead of them though

damn that's ****ing awful stuff by Lyon

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,361 ✭✭✭Boskowski

Think Bayern is playing well actually. conversion is bad but that's really down ho the final pass which always left the recipient on the wrong foot or out of position or something. Dont make this out to be such a bad game at all. It's just different. It's not a glamorous fancy match it's more physical and workmanlike.

Poor anticipation/timing from Gomes there, should have been a goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,466 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

How the fup did United concede 4 goals to this side?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Oh Gomez, what a pathetic effort..maybe he has a bet on 0-0 too :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Please let that goal liven it up.

That man Robben again (via Muller) :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,171 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Not getting the Bayern bashing either, their finishing is awful alright but they're not playing too bad apart from that. Besides this is one game. I doubt anyone on RTE has watched Bayern play outside of the two Man United games and this one tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,476 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

Good goal by Robben, the only one really looking to create with any quality.

You don't know your football. It's the CL semi final and bayern are controlling the game and are going to score. How terrible.
Parroting the socalled pundits is all that is.

That defender should have just rolled out the red carpet for that shot.

Will Robben get credited with that??

    I have him 1st scorer

Prolly the worst I've ever seen from Lyon. Only one team there looking to play football and we can't even defend well.:pac:

Doubt it, it was the clip off Muellers head that bet Lloris. Without that he would have saved it i'd say. But most of the reports are giving the goal to Robben, so u might be lucky.

Barca would violate either of these teams if they progress.

Inter should also have enough to beat either of them though I wouldn't be as certain.

Either way, fairly or not, this match really has a feel of the 3rd/4th place play-off about it.

If Bayern do go on to win the CL, they should build a statue of Robben and Florentino Perez outside the Allianz.

Think its Mullers. btw interesting stat from BBC page.

From optajoe on Twitter: "Bayern Munich are the most prolific side in the last 30 minutes in this season's Champions League with 12 goals."
