    was looking at the US immigration site as me and the missus plan on going to the states later in the year, I've been a few times, last time was in 2008 but she never has, would we have to give notice or do anything with a visa well in advance? a few people have told me its a few months notice now but I cant really find anything about it:confused:

    Hi,
    you dont need to wait months in advance or anything like that if you're just planning on going on holidays to America, Irish citizens are allowed 3 months travel each year in the USA. While you are travelling you will be on the Visa Waiver programme but this is not something you need to apply for prior to flying, you fill out forms on the day you fly out and process them at customs in Dublin airport. However, there is the new ESTA system that requires all travellers to the US to fill out the online form which only takes about 5 mins and then you're ready to go. Simply follow the link and you'll be done in no time. You can only do this once your flights are booked but no need to worry about visas because you and your partner will be fine.
