Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks

The speedometer needle in my 1998 Corolla sometimes fluctuates or oscillates when I'm driving. It jumps up and down over a range of a couple of mm around the current speed. Then sometimes it behaves and the fluctuations stop. Seems to happen at most speeds from 0-55mph (I dont drive it any faster) It's the old odometer cable system btw.

Can anyone advise what's going on here? fix? Many thanks

Your foot shaking on the pedal a bit maybe?

Your foot shaking on the pedal a bit maybe?

no not at all. happens even in smooth driving conditions such as motorway etc. It is not fluctuating in response to the cars speed, its just fluctuating of its own accord around the current speed indication

Throttle body sticking open then maybe, or maybe the needle is just a little loose.

Thanks again Midnight but Throttle Body is perfect, if the needle is loose why does it only happen intermittantly? Somoetimes it fluctuates sometimes not.

    Anyone else experienced this ?

Have the same problem on my 95 Impreza, its a loose
connection in the cluster part(knuckle scraping fun to fix!)
Yours could be the same or else where its connected to the gearbox.
You could try another cable, chance your breakersyard or even Toyota
    for a new one.
