The gas boiler in the house is situated on the counter top near the back door. Would it be possible to move it under the counter i.e. where the dish washer might be located?

Without seeing it , i would say this usually isnt done as it becomes very very hard to access pipes to work on , the height and where the flue exit may also be a problem . Its usually not done this way as a good few of the gas boiler designs require you to be able to access the underside for pipework or servicing , not saying its impossible but it could be so much hassle it might not be worth your while unless you go away and find a new boiler designed to be put under counter
