    I know I have had a thread praising T na G before, but I thought I'd statrt a thread which I could post to whenever there is something wothwhile coming up on that station. Anyway to start -

    Watched a great T na G documentary Lámh Fhada Dan Donnelly. Dan Donnelly was from the Quays in Dublin and beat the English champion George Cooper in 1815 in front of 20,000 it is said at what is still known as Donnelly's Hollow*. He then went to Engalnd where he beat all who took him on, even a Jamican boxer was brought over to fight him, which Donnelly won but actually became good friends with the Jamican who actually came to Dublin later with Donnelly on a mad drunken spree.

    Their were many folk tales about Dan Donnelly like that he had the longest arms in boxing history and that he could touch his knees without bending down. Another claims that he was knighted Sir Dan Donnelly. He returned to Dublin after several years of boxing abroad and at one stage owned a few pubs. However he seems to have been his own best customer and he died after one of his several day drink binges in 1820.

    He was posthumously inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2008.
