Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    So frustrating to watch...

I just wouldn't give them the ball back there tbh. The guy is looking for any opportunity to roll around.

FFS. this is painful to watch. We need one man on but its clear Rafa doesnt want to use him.

Babel needs to change his boots! Pity, after good build up

Babel is so infuriating.... wants to ... and does....beat 4 players and then falls over

I fail to see how Aqua would be our saviour tbh. Yossi had been non existent the second half, and had to come off. As such, El Zahr was the obvious choice.

    Simply painful to watch.

Not a good result, but looking at the flow of the game I'm satisfied that we can do it. There will be goals in it for us. Not ideal, and will be tough, but neither were the first legs against Lille and Benfica...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Poor game to watch, but am quite confident of turning it around at Anfield.

We are good at home and Athletico are terrible away this season. Would not surprise me to see a similar scoreline to the Benfica game at Anfield.

Bringing Aqua on for Lucas would have been a good substitution. Rafa so negative. Two holding midfiielders = not much creativity.

The chap on Channel five just said Liverpool will consider themselves firm favourites next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

That was hard to watch. Cant believe how flat that performance was...

    jesus that was ****e

Could and should have been worse.

Poor performance so happy with that result tbh.

They are no great shapes either which made it even more disappointing :(

LUCAS IS NOT A HOLDING MIDFIELDER.

Liverpool were a unbelievably ordinary side tonight .

You would have to fancy AM in the second leg if Liverpool play like that again ,

The travel issue this week has not left games on a level playing field which is a bit of disgrace , every game so far the traveling team has been lackluster even the best team in Europe .

Ah well once again a valuable lesson has been learned never put money on Liverpool or lay the team there playing ;)

If I thought it would help I would write a rather long reply on why I think we had better options on the bench. Thing is its only a personal opinion and it may be the wrong but sometimes lads its nice to actually have an opinion on things other than Rafa always right ipso facto questioning it or wishing it was different is retarded.

    Opr

Meh I think. I think Rafa got his starting 11 wrong to be honest and Babel should try to get some decent studs for his boots. Sh1te pitch as I mentioned earlier, maybe we get spoilt looking at the green beize of Anfield and Ashburton Grove.

Poor result no goal which could prove detremental . Have lost count of the terrible performances this season, we are a terrible team to watch lately, hopefully we can turn it round next week

Aquilani is more creative and attacking though.
FFS Ath Madrid have won 11 games in their league this season and are 44 points behind Barca, would it have hurted to play a more attacking side? We were ****e against a very poor Madrid team....

The TV3 pundits are hilarious, talking about Atletico like some obscure eastern European team that people wouldn't know much about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Really bad performance tonight, i thought! Nobody really stood out (maybe Reina, just for that stunning save). As SOTS said, it was really laboured.

The Five commentators have being wrecking my head in saying that one nil is a decent result. It's not.

The negatives going into the second leg:

Atletico have been going through on away goals in this competition

    No Torres.

Positives: They have been sh!t in La Liga, worse than us!

    Anfield crowd behind us.

    Play Dirk up alongside Ngog!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,082 ✭✭✭✭Spiritoftheseventies

Okay who texted in about Gerrard. Hands up :D

    Liverpools midfield was poor tonight.

There was **** all support for Ngog.

Lucas isnt a holding midfielder but his instuctions didnt include getting into the box much tonight.

He wasnt alone though, all our mids had a shocker attacking wise.

Lucas must have an iPhone in the dressing room. 'His' twitter is updated

    LucasLeiva21

That was the last straw. Dirk pointing and repeating 'hes a fairy, hes a fairy without the wings'. I lunged for him. Sammy Lee held me back.

Dirks in the changing rooms blaming me for the loss. I 'shouldve been back marking Forlan'. Im a pacifist but this is a real test for me.

Really disappointed. We wanted that away goal. Looking forward and seeing Ngog, Nabil, Babel and Dirk makes Lucas want to return to Gremio

Mr Alan and LL. Do you really think this team is going in right direction. Its plain to see their is no fluidity in team. We were a mess tonight. Are we missing something?

Usual uniformed BS, Lucas is being asked to sacrifice his natural game which is much closer to this

We were great against West Ham, Benfica, Portsmouth, Lille...

It was a tough away fixture after preparations that were less than ideal (to say the least), and the team still had chances to get an away goal.
