Hittin Skibbereen with herself next week for a couple of nights, not familiar with the area at all and just wondering what recommendations people would have for restaurants (reasonably priced), pubs (reasonably priced) and general touristy stuff during the day?

    Hey,
check out this site for some of the restaurants/cafés....the West Cork Hotel does a brilliant carvery lunch every day and they have food in the evenings too, reasonably priced. Kalbo's cafe does beautiful food as does Over the Moon. The Church is worth a call (even if only to see the building) but I dont think its as good as it used to be. The Riverside is also a lovely setting especially if you get nice weather, but the menu is "mediterranean" so maybe not to everyone's tastes.

If your interested in history, check out the Heritage Centre might be worth a call (www.skibbereenheritage.com) Baltimore is nice and if you got the weather you could take a trip out to Sherkin Island or Cape Clear. Also Lough Hyne is nice, there is a nice walk to the top of Lough Hyne hill with a beautiful view at the top. You should also take a trip out to Mizen Head, its really spectacular, and Ballydehob(take a stroll across the 12 arch bridge) and Schull are nice places to stop off in along the way.
    Have fun!
