What posters, if any, are on your bedroom walls?

Favourite place you've ever been on holidays and why?

Did you have a favourite / special teddy bear growing up!? If so, do you still have him?

    :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,164 ✭✭✭Konata

    What's your middle name?

What do you dream about at night?

How many C&H members have you met IRL?

    Have you ever eaten ostrich?

What would you do if you were told the world was going to end in exactly 2 hours?

    None at all

Favourite place you've ever been on holidays and why?
When I was about 13 or so I went to Jamaica (before you ask, I'll repeat that I was 13, so no), best food ever. Every meal I have eaten since has been terrible compared to nice plate of Jerk Chicken and chips/rice.

Did you have a favourite / special teddy bear growing up!? If so, do you still have him?
I did, but don't still have him, no idea where he is either

    :)

What do you dream about at night?
No idea, lots of things I guess, I rarely remember them

How many C&H members have you met IRL?
Ooooh. I'm hoping I'm not leaving anyone out or adding in people I haven't actually met, but:
bythewoods, phlegms, craguls, extrasupervery, Piste, SarcasticFairy, Fad, D4RK, IO, SligoBrewer I think, Chatbox, Ginja Ninja, A Neurotic, Aoibheann, TheCardHolder, Daysha, kev_s88, lilmissprincess, AllInOne.

Anyone left out feel free to insult me openly in this thread

    Have you ever eaten ostrich?
    I have not

What would you do if you were told the world was going to end in exactly 2 hours?
No idea, my immediate thought was "There's a KFC not too far from here" but that's just the fat person in me talking.

Would you ever consider becoming a vegetarian?

What are the origins of 'Pygmalion'?

When and why did you join boards.ie?

What has been your most serious health issue?

If you could be re-incarnated as one person, who would it be and why?

DO you like answering these questions?

    Should they be more personal?

    Are these questions epic enough?

What is the meaning of life?

Which do you prefer - bold or italics?

DO YOU CONSIDER CAPS LOCK TO MEAN SHOUTING OR JUST ADDED EMPHASIS?

Will you share the <3 like I do?

I love meat too much, and I hate vegetables too much. So no

What are the origins of 'Pygmalion'?
    This comic:
    comic2-1508.png

When and why did you join boards.ie?
About the time LC started (first week of exams but not sure whether it was before or after the day they started), just out of boredom and a need for more procrastination

What has been your most serious health issue?
None really, I don't really think I've ever gotten sick to a larger extent than missing a few days of school

If you could be re-incarnated as one person, who would it be and why?
No idea, maybe like Pythagoras because he seemed like some kind of insane cult leader, which would be kinda cool, in addition to being famous thousands of years later.

DO you like answering these questions?
    Yes

    Should they be more personal?

    Are these questions epic enough?

What is the meaning of life?
There is none IMO, although I think "don't be an asshole" has potential to become the De Facto standard.

Which do you prefer - bold or italics?
Bold, you can't use Italics within quotations.

DO YOU CONSIDER CAPS LOCK TO MEAN SHOUTING OR JUST ADDED EMPHASIS?
Added emphasis if it's just one word in a sentence, or one sentence in a paragraph, shouting otherwise.

Will you share the <3 like I do?
Yeah, there's more than enough <3 to go around, an infinite number of integers satisfy the equation after all.

    phlegms wrote: »
The nerdiest thing you have done to date?
No idea, but I have a fairly nerdy example:
A guy I hang out with from college once had a problem (to do with him being an asshole, there were girls involved too) and I was bored enough to try and model it as a graph theory exercise. I believe the result was:

Each person involved is a vertex on a graph, there's an edge between any pair of friends with a weight in each direction containing the estimated probability of person A telling person B, using a modified Dijksta's algorithm you can determine the probability that anyone who doesn't know what he did will find out what he did.
By deciding on a reasonably low "acceptable" probability that it would find it's way back to his girlfriend he could cross out edges and decide who he should and shouldn't trust in a room together.
It could be kept up to date as people find out about it by simply marking off that person as knowing and working out the probabilities again.

I may have done something wrong in the above but I wasn't too worried about accuracy at the time, and **** it, if my mistake caused him to get caught I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

    Fairly long answer there.

Should DR Cowboy have his own playpen thread?

List comprehensions or map, filter, etc. ?

What are your views on antidisestablishmentarianism?

Did you have to look that up?

    Honestly?

    What's your goal in life?

Will you do my programming exam for me on Wednesday?

Yes, of course, we all love him and his definitely non-trolling ways

List comprehensions or map, filter, etc. ?
List comprehensions seem prettier, and unless I'm mistaken they have the exact same effect, so I'll go with them.

If only I knew :(, I'm going to assume, however, that blue and white flares have something to do with it, and excessive use of the word "Whoooooooooooo" must be quite a turn on too if posts here are to be believed.
What are your views on antidisestablishmentarianism?
    It's pretty cool

Did you have to look that up?
    No

    Honestly?
    Honestly

    What's your goal in life?
To not hate my job, not have to worry about money and have some free time

Will you do my programming exam for me on Wednesday?
    Yes

I'm hating the whole "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters" thing.

Do you think it's disappointing that I can't think of many questions to ask?

Err, how about...what level of mathematics is taught and required for your course?

How often would you play a video game, was there ever a time where you played them a lot?

Did you laugh to yourself when you asked if anybody wanted to talk in the IRC channel despite it being moderated? Did it make you feel powerful? A substitute for something?

Very, I expected better of you

Err, how about...what level of mathematics is taught and required for your course?
Not much really, last semester we did like Set Theory and stuff I can't remember, this semester we're doing Leaving Cert Calculus and Probability.
Next year there's some more though, stuff which is apparently not on the LC curriculum, so maybe it'd pick up

How often would you play a video game, was there ever a time where you played them a lot?
Not very often, and it's usually just Nethack when I do, I used to play them more but I wouldn't say I ever played them a lot.

Did you laugh to yourself when you asked if anybody wanted to talk in the IRC channel despite it being moderated? Did it make you feel powerful? A substitute for something?
I did, it made me feel like a real man, it totally made up for my small penis.

If you had a daemon what would it be? (answer if you've read his dark materials)

What's your favourite everyday insignificant thing?
    The "snooze" button.

If you had a daemon what would it be? (answer if you've read his dark materials)
I have not read it, but I'm going to go with a nice httpd

have you ever built a fort?
Unfortunately not, I'm not manly enough, nor did I ever have enough cushions
    Fad wrote: »

Not sure, I listen to a lot of Metal, but it's usually more folky/symphonic stuff, any examples I can think of I can immediately think of other heavier bands I like so I'll stop trying

    Plans for the summer?
    None at all
When did you get your first computer/ love of computing develop?
Had an old Packard Bell when I was tiny, back when there was dialup and we couldn't use internet much due to cost.
Got non-**** computer years later, got into nerdy stuff maybe 2nd or 3rd year.
How much change do you have on you right now?
On me, none, however my desk here is full of coppers, I occassionally just empty my wallet out looking for bus fare.

May I ask you a question? (If yes, proceed to next question. If no, explain.)

    Tea or coffee?

    What's your favourite prime number?

    Favourite complex number?

Who would win in a fight: Newton, Einstein or Davidius?

    This or that?

Where would you live if you could choose anywhere at all in the world?

Do you see shapes in cloud formations?

Are you a fan of the Harry Potter books?

Have you ever been told you look like a famous person? If so, who?

Have you ever tried to straighten your beard?

    No

    Tea or coffee?
    Tea, hate coffee

    What's your favourite prime number?
No idea, I'll go with 3, although I remember my CAO number was a prime, that was pretty cool, can't remember what it was though, just that it started with a 4

    Favourite complex number?
    3 + 5i

Who would win in a fight: Newton, Einstein or Davidius?
Davidius, I imagine he's less dusty and rotted, in better shape overall

    This or that?
    That

Where would you live if you could choose anywhere at all in the world?
No idea, if language wasn't an issue one of the Scandinavian countries, but it is, so would have to be English speaking.
I'll eliminate Ireland because I already live here, the UK because it's like Ireland but with worse accents, and America for obvious reasons.
That really just leaves Canada and Australia/New Zealand that I can think of, and Canada seems better.

Do you see shapes in cloud formations?
    I see shapes.
I do not see recognisable shapes

Are you a fan of the Harry Potter books?
I think they were pretty cool, will probably never read them again though

Have you ever been told you look like a famous person? If so, who?
When I was younger Harry Potter.
Now Jonathan Coulton (by jumpguy IIRC), and Jesus

Have you ever tried to straighten your beard?
I have not, it's not long enough

Would you ever build your own computer? What would you put in it (realistically - we'd all love a 32-core beast)?

Do you play any musical instruments?

Favourite book/author? (Unless it was asked already)

    my standard questions:
    What are you afraid of?
If you could change one thing, what would it be?
    What's your favourite thing?

If you could have one small animal live in your hair/beard,what would it be?

What made you grow the beard?

If you could choose how you'd be remembered, how would that be?

If you were ruler of the world, would you use your powers for good or evil?

What colour would you secretly like to dye your beard?

    Google or Yahoo?

    Fame or fortune?
