Hey guys, just spotted this in Season 4, episode 11, Cabin Fever, after going looking for it after that Wired article:

Check out the drawing on the wall...

I was just trying to figure out if it was showing John becoming the smoke monster?
The knife he picks up looks ancient too, possibly previously owned by MIB?

Apologies if this had been mentioned before!

Looks more like the smoke monster laying waste to somebody rather than turning into somebody.

The knife could be MIB's, maybe Richard brought it to see if Locke connected with it. The fact that Locke did seemingly think it was his could have indicated to Richard that Locke would be malleable to MIB if he were to come to the island, which is why Alpert left the house so quickly. It begs the question though, how did Richard get the knife from MIB in the first place?

The real Locke gave the knife to Richard at the Others base camp circa 1954 as far as i recall? I think it was one of the knives he had in his case after the original crash.

I don't think i was, that knife looked very old to epsecially the handle. I think Richard was hoping Locke wud pick up the compass there

i thought it was a nod to the time locked looked into the smoke monster and saw 'something beautiful' or whatever it was he said

You're right I think it was the compass that Locke gave to richard at theothers camp, did Flocke give something to Richard to give to Locke when he was wounded during the time flashes in season 5?, or did Original Locke just Ask Richard how he knew he was there?
