Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nervous about flashing a new ROM

    How do all.

I'm running a Hero, rooted and Modaco 3.1.

The first time I flashed, there was no problem, I just did it, and it was done.

Thinking about flashing a new ROM, Villian possibly, but having some second thoughts.

I really don't want to brick it.

Can anyone assure me about flashing a new ROM?

It is very very difficult to brick it. If you do a nandroid backup before applying the new ROM, you can always step backwards to your current version.

Just make sure your battery has a good charge in it before upgrading.

Let us know how it goes. I'll be sticking on Villain 5.3 tonight.

A good rule of thumb for flashing any device is that it should have atleast 75% charge and be plugged in to a charger. Make a backup beforehand and you should be fine.

Thanks guys, just got a pang of nervousness when I went to start it there.

    So, steps are

    1) Nandroid backup
    2) Wipe SD card
    3) Put new ROM onto SD card named update.zip
    4) Power Off
    5) Power on and home
    6)...
    7) Profit, right?

Not sure if you have seen this guide. It's on the nexus forum of xda. I suppose it's the same for any device

No need to wipe your SD card... In the root menu when you 'Wipe' that wipes the phone, make sure you have your contacts synced, all mine are Google so I can flash new ROMs as I please.

I'm on Modaco 3.2 but not sure if I'll change to Villain or not yet.
