Dead pump?

I have a pellet boiler running two 3 hour cycles heating dhw and radiators. In the past i've noticed that when the weather is warm and the rads dont kick in, the pump can be running all day, presumably recirculating the heat from my hot water cylinder.

I've spoken to my plumber about this and he didnt see it as a problem, even when the pump started getting noisy. As of today, the boiler is running as normal, but no heat is coming to the house. I reckon this means my pump is not working, to check this i turned the heating back on and eventually the boiler shut down as it was overheating.

I cant get in contact with my plumber, so in the first instance i'm wondering if i'm right about the pump being dead.(Should have said there is power going to the pump and there was a little water in the electrical housing of the pump where the capacitor is)

Secondly, if this is the problem, can something be done in the future to stop the pump burning out. Can it be timed to run intermittently after the boiler has shut down.

    The pump is definitely dead.

Are all these circulating pumps the same size, width wise between fittings? Its a 130 mm Taifu pump but i've been looking online at grundfos and others priced between 45 and 90 euro. For ease of replacement the new pump would need to be the same width, can anyone advise?

I may have a word with my plumber when i track him down as the job was specced for a grundfos pump and a fully pressurised hot and cold water system, he was paid and long gone before we realised we'd been conned.

It should be connected by a pump overrun switch, which might be part of the boiler's control box. Then the pump will run as long as necessary for the boiler to cool down. This is very common on gas boilers and makes sure that the pump. If there's no inbuilt overrun, it wouldn't be too hard to put together.
