Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi all,
i'm looking for a free easy to use video splitter. i've got some home movies that i want to put up on youtube, but they're all more than 10mins long.

i've used up my trial version of easy video splitter i used for previous videos, and i've spent ages looking for a replacement, but no luck.

the videos are roughly 600mb and i think i need to split them into roughly 7 parts.

    anyone recommend any software?

    thanks

    Use Avidemux

Download and install, load your video, use the "A" and "B" buttons to choose a start and end position of your cut, then click save.

Both Video and Audio are set to copy by default. This will do a very quick cut and not re-encode the video.

You say your videos are 600mb, it might be a good idea to re-encode these to smaller sized videos to save bandwidth and uploading time (depending on your broadband connection). Re-encoding will take time in itself but if your connection goes half way through uploading a large file you will have to start all over again.

To re-encode, follow the same steps for choosing your section of video to cut, then for Video choose MPEG4-AVC, for Audio choose AAC and for Format choose MKV.

You can click on configure for the Video and Audio codecs to play with the quality sliders. The default settings should be a good starting point.

When saving the file make sure you type in the file extention, i.e. xxxx.mkv for MKV, xxxxx.mp4 for MP4 etc. It will not do it automatically for you.
