Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He said it was the rules.

I doubt he would claim it was in the rules if he wasnt sure of it.

So what if he put his hands above his head? Red card?

    What a block by Samuel!

Inter will just personify a typical Jose team mentality from that onwards.

They will be dogged and jump in front of every shot. I reckon they will go and score at least one and break Barca hearts.

be about 10 minutes injury time coming up too i say.

Never a card of any colour.
the ref has to take the force of the hand off into account when deciding what to do. He got it wrong and Serigo should be banned for diving.

So far the Inter defense has been solid and not lacked wandering about.

If this goes on too long I would expect a soft pen

I'm starting to think Ibra really is Barca's weak link. Hopefully he lights up in the second half.

Great tackle by Chivu, never a free, nevermind a booking.

    Scandalous refereeing. Ovrebo mk. II

Is every foul a yellow

looks on 2nd view that he got the ball to me. will be at least 1 more inter red I guess

I don't see why people are complaining. Busquets made a meal of it...but Motta was an absolute idiot for raising his hands anyway. What did he expect to happen? He has no right to complain. Especially when he was on a yellow.

His behaviour afterwards reminds me of the guy who starts a fight with a bouncer after not being let into a club: he's just proven the ref's point.
This is ridiculus! players are idiots when they are squaring face to face with each other off the ball and one of the pushes the other in the face.
This was completely different! His hand was behind his back ffs, I would thinki ts very hard to hurt anyone with the hand position like that unless it was a fist.
Should have been a yellow for a dive

Are the next generation of footballers just a bunch of bi*ches or what?

This sport never used to have so much diving going on. It sickens me.

    Worst. Shot. Ever.

Messi gets an arm in the gob from Eto'o and just gets on with it. Busquets gets one and he looks like he was poleaxed. No wonder casual observers of football think the players are pansies.

Football is becoming a joke of a sport.

That hand off was never a red card.

Then because Sneijder starts lying on the ground, Inter fans think the ball should be put out of play.

Then Chivu gets a yellow card for making a good tackle and getting the ball.

It's so frustrating, these are grown men...

Well the ref is trying even out the events from last sweek thats for sure.

Barca cant complain about him now.

Ugh, horrible cynical stuff from Barcelona that half. You'd almost think they were the Mourinho side.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry in here was giving Babel plenty of abuse about being stupid when he touched Luisao's face and the same happened, now that it's Barca who have the forum have decided they hate all of a sudden you can fiddle about with players all you like.

Thats typical Messi tho. He did same a few weeks ago in a league game and got on the end of the move to score rather than rolling around. Pity there aren't more like him.

Pretty poor game so far for a semi final. Looking at that first half I am not sure Bayern has to fear either of them, as many people suggested yesterday.

Mourinhos team talk - "remember the derby earlier in the season when we had 9 men, and still won........................"

All in all, it's been an interesting game. I was a neutral, but know I want Inter to go through.

It doesn't matter. The letter of the law says he's done wrong: he clawed at his face.

I agree with everyone that Busquets acted ridiculously. But Motta was an idiot for taking such a pointless risk when Inter have been talking about Barca's play-acting throughout the whole build up to the game. He's asking for trouble when he simply could have kept his hands down and probably wouldn't have even lost the ball.

He played with fire and got burnt.

    Totally different situation tbh.

    Looking forward to hearing Eamo.

"I talked before the game Bill about referees spoiling matches with their decisions. Busquets is a pup."

Something to that effect coming up I'm sure.

What a load of rubbish, even with 11 Inter were horribly "lumpy" what was going on inside the small area reserved for Mottas brain we can only guess. Barca meanwhile are wildly over-rated on the evidence of the half.

What have Barcelona and Henry got in common?

It begins with C and ends with S

did Mourinho say something to Guardiola that upset him after Motta was red carded ?

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

I don't think Motta meant it at all, looked like he was trying to hold him off via the chest but er, missed.

This is the most high profile game of attack versus defence I've ever seen.

Clive just said if that hand goes above the chin the rules are its a red card

Below the chin is a yellow.

His hand was above the chin.

Clive is an idiot! A hand below the chin is a yellow? Every time 2 players go for a ball they should both get yellows

What a ridiculous sending off. I know the rules say you can't raise your hands but surely thee ref has to use some common sense? Disgraceful behavious from Busquets.

I was favouring Barca but after that I'm cheering for Inter. Lucio is the man for this kind of situation... Inter have been heroic since the sending off.

Clawed at his face? Please. He was running and was using his arms, Motta's hand didn't touch his face Busquets face touched his hand..

Talk about the rules all you like, but is it not part of a refs job to act with discretion and common sense?

Dirty little pr*ck. Absolute disgrace to football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Just saw a replay of the incident and when they cut ot Mourinho you can see one of the Barca backroom team swinging his elbow as if to say that's what Motta did.

    Rotten to the core.

Barce need a left footer going down the left. Rodrigues keeps having to cut back when he gets played in behind.

Cant put your hands in someones face.

Never is it acceptable regardless of the guy milking it.

Its basically just asking for trouble.

    Players are aware of this.

    Get over it.
