    Hi everyone!

My Rottie is amost 4 years old and ever since we got her as a puppy, she is a terrible squealer! When she was much younger if the door slammed or there was any loud noises she would just squeal! Also, if she has done something bold and you go to tap her on the bum, even before you get to do it she squeals!!! When I got her she was 5 months, which is older than a lot of puppies that go to new homes, she was quite nervous and shy, it did take her a while to come out of it. I know this was due to the care she WASN'T given by the breeder but now she's not shy or nervous at all! It just baffles me a bit because im not sure where she's picked it up from! Is this common in Rottweilers?! I have never heard of anyone thats had a similar experience! It's not a scared/worried squeal, im not really sure what it means! She's well looked after and has no behaviour problems! Anyone heard of this before?!

I'm sure its more due to her bad start in life than anything else but that said Rotties are known to be a v.vocal breed. When I play with my Rottie girl she can be v.vocal, anyone could be forgiven for thinking she was about to attack me when we play tug of war but its just how this breed is :)

Unfortunately I think it is due to not being socialised and exposed to lots of different noises and experiences when she was young. I have a husky cross that we got at 5 months old from the pound. At home she is extremely confident, doesn't appear nervous at all, but when she meets new people away from home, its a different story.

As lrushe says, they are a vocal breed anyway, my brother's rottie used to make amazing noises when he was playing, you'd really think he was about to rip something apart. So maybe instead of that growling noise, she does the squealing instead?

I have a 5 month old rottie pup and since i've had her she chatters at me when i talk to her it's like shes trying to talk back!! it's very funny she does it to everybody who talks directly to her,My grandmother used to breed rotties and hers were all the same.it's sort of gurgleling noise slightly howling it's hard to describe. My grandmother always said a rottie who talks to you is a happy rottie. Some people might think your mad but it's true.Rotties are a very people person dog when raised and socialized right!!

I've only ever noticed this with small dogs that are a bit spoilt. One of my Cavs actually, is a complete baby, if you do anything like pull her hair a little when brushing her, step on her paw, cut her nails, then she squeals loads. And I'd be saying, "Shut up dog, I'm not hurting you!" so the neighbours must think I'm hitting her or something! And she's cry for 5 minutes after a vaccination

So if she is a bit spoilt then that could be why?
