I'm trying to find places to go dancing, where a middle aged woman wouldn't be woefully out of place! Not looking for discos, but places for country western, swing, or even ballroom dancing. Seems like most everything is in Galway City, there just has to be something closer!

I don't think there's much like that in Athlone. But here are 3 places I know of that aren't a million miles away
    1. Moate have something in The Well at weekends.
    2. I think the County Arms in Birr on Tuesday nights
    3. And Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow on Wednesday nights, Sunday afternoons (at 3pm) and Sunday night at 8.

Social Dancing (Foxtrots, Quicksteps and Waltzes (No jiving)):

Athlone GAA club on Sunday nights from 9.30pm - 12.30am

The Well near Moate has dancing on Thursday nights 9.30pm - 12.30am, and Sundays at 3pm.

    (Mostly jiving and waltzing):

    The Well Saturday - 11.00pm - 2.00am

Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe Sunday from 10.30pm - 12.30am

Where can you get a list of who's playing in those places?

Thanks! Where is the GAA club if I'm coming from the Tuam road? Have you been there yourself? What sort of crowd is there?

At either place, would you be able to find dance partners there, or would they pretty much be places where you have to bring your own partner?
