Anyone know what bookies would have best odds on Van Persie to be top Premiership goalscorer? I think that will be my big bet this year

He is guaranteed to get injured during the season though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 951 ✭✭✭Verance

I think he meant in the WC? And he's top price 11/2 with PP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Kod-box

oh right yeah, top prem in the world cup, 11/2 is decent there actually.

RVP to be top premiership scorer over the next month.

Not bad, can be backed each way as well, 1/4 the odds for first 4.

    David Villa Top Goalscorer e/w @ 8/1
    1/4 the odds for first 5 <ftw>

Anyone with a tip for a good outsider?
    Suarez (Uruguay) e/w 50/1 maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,109 ✭✭✭Cavehill Red

Klose would be a decent outsider.
Probably come in a tad since the RP tipped him, but I would never write off the Germans, they could score for fun in their group, and if Klose comes good for them in the first couple of games, his odds will tumble faster than a troupe of clowns.
Worth a small flutter e/w imo.

While RVP is an excellent player i don't think he's a prolific goalscorer.
Again only my opinion. The fecker could bang in 8 goals now

    H Suazo (Chile) 66/1 , Barrios (Paraguay) 100/1

    nice e/w bets :)

He is in great form (has got 4 goals in 3 warm-up games), will have the likes of Snejeder, Van der Vaart and Robben providing the ammo, is fresh and hungry after 5 months of injury, and takes penalities as well as frees. Rooney will probably be the main threat of his Premiership rivals but I reckon RVP should outscore him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,109 ✭✭✭Cavehill Red

Robben's out, for at least the first game.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,832 ✭✭✭x PyRo

As someone who has followed RVP through his whole Arsenal career he is a great goalscorer WHEN played as the main striker, He used to play the Bergkamp role in behind the main striker but when he played as the main front man he has been scoring very regularly. (When fit!) He's the main man for Holland who only play the one out and out striker, Which is him with a line of three attacking midfielders behind him who create alot of chances for him, Plus he takes penalties and free kicks.

I posted him up elsewhere when he was 40/1 and somewhere here when he was 33/1. Best priced @ 12/1 now, That's a bit low but IF (It's a big if) he stays fit for the whole tournament he'll be right up there and I think the Dutch will go a long way in this if they can stay defensively solid. I'm happy with my 40's e/w and won't be laying any of it off as I really think he'll score alot of goals in the WC and could still possibly be value @ 12's should he stay fit.

With Suazo struggling to make the Honduras game I'm thinking Sanchez at 100/1 might be worth a shot.

Robinho was available @ 40-1 before he scored twice against Tanzania on Monday - he is now best priced 33-1. He has scored 3 in the last 2 games for Brazil and looks very sharp.

Has anyone mentioned Lucasz Podolski @ 60/1 on the exchanges?
Second in the Golden boot in 2006 and euro 2008 tournaments.
I know Germany arent fancied but he plays well for them.

I was actually thinking of backing Klose. Top scorer in 06 and joint top in 02. 50/1 i saw him priced the other day. Tempted.

My outside tip for this though is Dirk Kuyt, and forget the avatar for a minute :D.
He has a knack for scoring in important games. I keep thinking of what Milan Baros did in Euro 04(iirc) He won the Golden Boot and was crap. If Holland do happen to go a long way this time i expect Kuyt to have a big imput. €50@80/1 is what i've taken him at.

Happy to have Forlan at 75/1 but looking to cover it with a bet on one of the favs, probably Torres.

You should always use OddsChecker.com. It will show you odds from all the leading sites - the differences can be quite dramatic. Very handy website for the gambler within :D

    Diego Forlan top scorer @74

    Fernando Torres top scorer @15.5

    Milito top scorer e/w @12

    Barrios top scorer e/w @23

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 238 ✭✭the_one_&_only

I got milito at 28/1 in pp there at lunch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Kod-box

yeah Milito is 25-33's everywhere where was he 12/1?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭newballsplease

Klose is 14/1 for top goalscorer. He already has 1. he should have had a hattrick. Germany look like they could go all the way. His record speaks for itself.
Seems a good bet to me.

Which is why I have the e/w on Podolski @ 50/1. 6 goals in qualifying for a team that should score in every group game and should get a quarter final at least unless they meet England in the last 16.

Need at least 3 more from Podolski I reckon. Not too many goals anywhere but if Germany progress I expect a couple more from him. Worryingly taken off in the first game though and plays very wide.

Level top goalscorer though! The 1 goal club after 16.5games:

    Gabriel Heinze
    Elano
    Maicon
    Jean Beausejour
    Steven Gerrard
    Cacau
    Miroslav Klose
    Thomas Müller
    Lukas Podolski
    Asamoah Gyan
    Daniele De Rossi
    Keisuke Honda
    Ji Yun-Nam
    Lee Jung-Soo
    Park Ji-Sung
    Rafael Márquez
    Dirk Kuyt
    Winston Reid
    Antolín Alcaraz
    Gelson Fernandes
    Róbert Vittek
    Robert Koren
    Siphiwe Tshabalala
    Clint Dempsey
    Diego Forlán

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Kod-box

Forlan now top with 2, i'd say 5 or 6 will win it at most.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭Mezcita

    Come on Klose!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,970 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Diego's odds dropping massively. Down to 12s and 9s at some places.

75/1 at the beginning was always way too generous imo, but I won't be complaining if it comes in!

its all over after that...PP will payout on Higuain now

Higuain is only 2/1 now, very short IMO with so much football to play.

I told everyone I was backing Forlan at 66/1 but I typically changed my mind and did Van Persie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,595 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Got Forlan at 66/1 each way back in May. Also got Higuain at 18/1 outright.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭gavmcfad

I logged onto Oddschecker to see what odds Higuain was after his hat trick. Stan James were offering 11/1. Logged onto SJ in record quick time only to see it was 9/4......ah well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭ForeverYoung90

David Villa will come good imo.You got to remember he's only played once while Forlan and Higuain have both played two games(and both scored in the second game only).Spain have Chile and Honderus next and hopefully Villa will bag a few goals!Got him at 8/1 e/w:o.

Have Klose at 11/1 since the kick off of the match he got sent off in... but he might be comin good now . . . :D

I just remembered 3rd place playoff counts too, so Klose could well be value at 4/1 now.

42.0 but layed it at 5.2.

    That'll do me.

Boylesports still have Wesley Snejder at 5/1 to be top goalscorer!

    http://www.boylesports.com/Areas/SportsHome/template_1_UK/index.html?navigationtypes=HOME#navigationtypes=FOOTBALL&bo-navigation=top,22369.1&market-group=70977.1

Crazy odds considering he is now level with Villa on 5 goals. Unfortunately I don't have an online account but I recommend those that do with Boylesports to get on that. I'll be up at the crack at dawn to see if he is still that price!

  • Moderators Posts: 8,832 ✭✭✭x PyRo

Not one bit crazy at all.

Villa has two games to play in, Snjeider only has one. Also Klose has two games to play in and he's not far away at all. He's 5/1 for a reason. :)

Forlan can still do it with a brace in the playoff :D

He is struggling for fitness now, think you should lay!
