Seeding burnt lawn

I have an area of approx. a half acre which is a mix of grass and moss. It seems that the moss was burnt/ killed during the bad winter snap. Now would be a good time to try and reclaim some of the patches for grass. Could I literally just scatter grass seed on the existing grass / moss in the hope it will take or do I need…
