Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi!

I need to get a certificate of roadworthiness to get my car insured again. Can you please give some information on companies that handle such things?

My insurance company sent me to Assess Ireland. They asked me for a lot of money for the first test and demand the same amount for a re-test so basically I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to their service.

Did you get the vehicle repaired or was it through your insurance?

If it was through your insurance, surely they should be providing the person to do this.

What happened that the first test was a failure? If it failed due to the vehicle not being repaired properly, take it up with the repairer; if they didn't fix it right in the first place then, in my opinion, they should be footing any extra resulting bills.

Out of interest, how much did the assessors want to charge?

    Thanks for a quick reply.

The damage to the car was minimal so I decided to keep it, although the insurance company wanted to scrap it. They gave me the equivalent of the market value of the car.

Assess Ireland charged me 220 eu for the first test. I was supposed to pay around 50 eu for the re-test. But recently I was informed that I need to pay 220 eu again ("due to the nature of fails in the first inspection").

The engineer refused to drive the car due to the oversized tyres an lack of passenger side mirror. But wrote that the repairs are "adequate with regards to safety and security of both the vehicle's occupants and other road users".

Actually I have one more question. Although the damage done during the accident has been repaired. The engineer failed me because of other faults which have nothing to do with the accident. Can he do that?
