Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Kit lens, 55-200 or both for party

I have a family party coming up and would like to take some snaps. The venue will be indoors and outdoors. I have Nikon d3000 with the 18-55 kit lens and also the 55-200 lens. Although I would love to have my nifty fifty, I cannot afford it at present.

One guide on youtube suggested using the 55-200 as it means you can take various shots without following people around all day to get close up etc.

    Any thoughts welcome.

I'm sure some generous soul here can loan you a 50, unfortunately I use Canon.

I actually can't wait for the next party in our house to use the nifty :D [I'm on Sony, no use to you either here] - It was one thing i used to dread. because I took photo's a lot, people just expected amazing party shots! I had a bridge cam ffs! But i always managed to do ok, but it is a struggle, especially kid's parties, when they're constantly running in and out, the conditions keep changing and they won't stay still for a second.

50mm f/1.7 and the odd quick change over to the kit lens for wider/closer in shots will sort that craic out next time.

Maybe switch to the 55-200 anytime the action switches to outside? Why only one lens?
