with these things it would be best to put up your budget for the machine

    head on over to http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=842

Most standard PC's in shops are not really built for video editing etc.. Best bet is to build one.. See link above

    Cheers Job and never..

As for budget, well the less the better. max 500 euros and I don't need a screen or huge HDD as I have them already..

As for building it, been there and really just want one pre-built. I don't have the time or the up to date skill to build it right now.

I am not taking on CNN in the editing stakes so don't need a MAD machine..
Running Photoshop and pinnacle studio 14...

Any help appreciated I would be happy with a dell and have tried to revive the desktop thread of same..

I run both apps myself. If you are editing SD the specs are low enough. If its HD 500 might do it, but a build would definitely be the better option by far.

Except with higher end stuff the CPU does all the rendering, so all the GPU has to do is playback. As such, bung your money into an i3 or i5 if you can:) 4GB RAM is fine, any more is a waste. DDR3. You also want large drives+Slots for a few more. Firewire is a must, as is a decent DVD burner or Blueray if thats what your in to. Audio isnt a big thing, low end creative card is what I'd go for.

Build it though, its worth it:)

IF I was buying dell, this would be something that I'd look at: http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=ie&cs=iebsdt1&kc=D4XT5502&l=en&oc=W02T5502&rbc=W02T5502&s=bsd
But its 1200 WITHOUT VAT and Shipping! And its not even that great. Good core, but thats the height of it.

@Lethal, cheers but its WAY out of my budget..

Maybe something like this ? I must admit I am at a loss here on the technology..

    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=ie&cs=iebsdt1&kc=D4X23001&l=en&oc=D052314&rbc=D052314&s=bsd

Its coming in at 519 but thats with a monitor and I dont need one, I also have a few 1Tb sata 3.5 drives so I am not worried about the HDD..

    Any help ?
