Song wise you should be able to picture yourself doing a flurry of punches on a punching bag while listening to the song :P

Unfortunately, your patrons might find my playlist.....unpleasant to say the least :P

    Some others you could try:

    Animals- nickelback
    Pendulum- propane nightmares
    Pendulum- showdown
    Slipknot- before i forget
    Turisas- battle metal
Urkraft- too strong for the strongest lord
    Arsis- face of my innocence
    Arsis- maddening disdain
(maybe not the vocals from the last three but the pace is what you need :P)
    Alestorm- death before the mast
    Evile- armoured assault

Just a few ive found there :P

Waayyy too much heavy metal in this thread, don't need a headache while you're working out like.

A decent mix of rock/rap/dance(not eurodance).

dance has no place in a gym.

dance has no place in a gym.

More worthy of a place than metal, imo.

    No.

    No.

I'd much rather listen to a tune over some eejit roaring as loud as he can, trying to shout over electric guitars and drums.

guess we'll have to agree to disagree, but i stand by my point, how can you get phyched with lyrics like "now your gone, i realise my love for you was strong" . and yea i realise my knowledge of dance is appalling.

Point taken, but neither can l jog to "The lying, the bleeding, the screaming, was tearing me apart, the hatred, the beatings, disaster, it's over"

    (OK...I googled it!!! :P)

anything with a lot of drums in the back will do me, doesn't need to be intense or anything. Something like a lot of Four Tet songs.

As a user of your Gym, please please please do not heed the advice above! Stay away from hardcore death metal, ecstasy felled dance tracks etc.

If anybody needs music to motivate then through a work out, chances are they will bring an iPod. You'll piss off as many people as you will motivate playing something hardcore. I was in last sat morning and could barely hear myself think with some crazy bass heavy dance track pounding in thebackground, never mind my iPod notwithstanding it was turned up to the max.

Unfortunately generic up tempo pop tunes at a reasonable volume level are your safest bet if you are trying to annoy the least amount of people.

anything from clutch is a good bet.And it isnt too heavy for all you metal naysayers.

    *Raises hand - I don't have a shaved head....:p

But seriously like - Bruce Springsteen and the Tings Tings are not going to help my Squat.

Trying to front squat last Monday in Raw with coldplay blasting over the PA. Someone deserves a slap for that. :pac:

BTW.. Metal and dance are both products of sub talented 'musicians'.
If people need music to motivate them they can bring a ipod to the gym.

Here's the thing, there's never going to be a definitive 'playlist'. I think (and hope) the point of this thread was to find out what people want to hear more of for the sake of variety as opposed to what will be playing all the time.

So yeah, from time to time there's going to be hip-hop, dance, metal, eurodance, generic lounge music, main stream pop, sounds of the rain forrest bla bla bla. Personally if someone comes up and says 'here lash on some dance/hip-hop' etc I'll find some on one of the ipods and stick it on. If someone says turn the music down/up whatever I'll do that. Its not a 'metal' gym, its just a place to train. The majority of people have mp3 players anyway but its the crowd thats in training at any given time that dictates the music.

Like a few weeks ago someone asked for the 'Any Given Sunday' speech before a 1RM deadlift, downloaded it onto my iphone, hooked it up to the sound system and everyones a winner!

In all fairness no music will. Only you will ;)

The last time I brought my ipod to the gym I barely heard one song, completely zone out when I'm under/over a bar. Don't bring it anymore.

I beg to differ. You'd be amazed how much a blast off 'Ante Up Remit' by M.O.P. can help me through the last set.

In fact anything by M.O.P. is pretty good when you are under the bar.

+1 on the begging to differ!
You can pretty much liken it to doing a 500m sprint too, a dose of coldplay is hardly going to make you pound the treadmill in all fairness...

This has always been my favourite. Wait for the guitar solo about a minute in.

Then give me the Rocky tracks and AC/DC.

Saying that I reckon I'd prefer a gym with no in house music. People who want music will probably bring an Ipod anyway.

    fast/loud/angry or a combination of the 3.

    faithless
    pendulum
    bloody beetroots
    boys noize
    deadmau5
    chemical brothers
    crookers
    prodigy
    kasabian
    foo fighters
    QOTSA
    AC/DC
    fratellis
    muse
    basement jaxx

i personally like a few cheesy house tracks like axwell etc when im on the treadmill etc. and cheesy 90's tracks even more so.

if yoy can find live sets of bands/djs it can be very good. i have a set from 2manydjs on my ipod and its brilliant for running etc. you can hear the crowd in the background too goin mental which gets me going anyway.
