Choosing between a few monitors

I'm looking at buying a 22 inch LCD. It'll be used with an xbox 360 mainly or hooked up to the pc for gaming, not looking for anything very expensive or with hdmi as I already have a 32 inch hdtv. It's kind of a spare for when herself has taken over the telly or whatever.
I've cut it down to 3 models at the moment, all are in or around the 130 mark posted.

My problem in choosing is that the AOC and the Benq both have DVI and VGA inputs, but are only 1680x1050 resolution. The Viewsonic is 1920x1080, but only has a VGA connection.
The xbox will be hooked up with VGA either way, because that gives me analog audio, and it'd be too expensive to go converting hdmi to DVI and useable audio.
So I'm thinking the 1920x1080 might be the better option for me.

Anyone have one of the 3 monitors, or can give a good reason why to pick 1 over the others?

    Thanks in advance.

What graphics card does the PC have? The higher the resolution, the lower the fps when gaming!

On the other hand, I'm not sure how well the XBox would scale to 1680*1050...

I've an overclocked 4850 in the pc. Although I'll probably upgrade that over the next few months.

The xbox has an option for 1680x1050 but I haven't anything to test it on to see if there are any issues.

An OCd HD4850 is none too shabby for 1080p, although you need a higher-bandwidth 1GB card with a similar or greater amount of GPU grunt to make the most of it. I'd say you're well set either way.

    Also saw on Pixmania:

This 1080p jobbie for €129. Says Hyundai but the model number looks an awful lot like an Asus...

There's an Acer there for the same price with a similar spec but higher dynamic contrast... not so pushed on them as a brand though

Cheapest 22" LG is €139; I think they and Hannspree are much better budget brands but some Samsungs can surprise you. That ViewSonic is there for over €140. Samsung, Asus, HP and Philips all rear their heads nearer €145. HP and the cheapest 23" screen (Acer, €146) both have DVI.

This is a great offer even in spite of its slightly lower contrast, although probably a bit above your price range at €149 :o

Thanks for the links. That LG for 149 is a beautiful looking monitor, and has hdmi. But every time I go to buy something I always keep increasing the price slightly with the "ah sure its only a small bit more to have X feature" mentality. I'm gonna control myself this time lol.

Do you think the 1080p viewsonic would be a decent monitor to go for?
    Its just under £109 here
That works out a just around €125 including delivery.

Just got that LG one and its fantastic. But I know what you mean with the I'll just spend a little more mentality.

Nah, it depends on whether the €149 LG is worth it; its the best deal around and you wouldn't need much better than that unless you really wanted/needed a big-ass 1080p+ 24"+ units or super-pricey, super-fidelity almost-IPS-quality panels. Its just the best "budget" monitor and as there's a big gap up to the higher monitor categories there's no chance of continuing the dreaded "oh but if I spend just a little more..." any further upward. If I was buying it'd be between the two LGs for sure :p

I may have found 1 that I don't have to make a trade off on. Its 1080p, DVI, VGA, and good looking to boot. It's €119 with free delivery (maybe even worthy of the bargain alert thread :P)

    It a Benq G2200HD.
Only thing is I haven't use the site before, although they do have a Dublin phone number and the option to pick up from them.

Anyone know whether these guys are legit/good to deal with?

Edit: Also, ye're killin me with the lg's. I can't stop looking at them now! Lol

LG is nice :) BenQ is a real mixed bag, with some naff products and some uber ones. That monitor for €119 is one of the good'uns though! :D
