The New Generation

Watching the World Championships and despite the surprise Steve Davis story, I think this is final confirmation of the new generation of players 30 or under taking over and dominating the scene for the next 5-10 years.

This group includes; Ali Carter, Neil Robertson, Stephen Maguire, Ding Junhui, Shaun Murphy, Ryan Day, Mark Allen, Mark Selby, Liang Wenbo, Judd Trump

Higgins and O'Sullivan, given their rankings, will obviously be competitive for at least another two-three years. Though, the days of Edbon, Doherty, Williams and Hendry being in serious contention for the big tournaments looks to be over.

Should be a very competitive 5-10 years, with no standout dominant player like Davis in the 80s, Hendry in the 90s, or even Ronnie for a while in the 00s.

To other posters, who of the above will overachieve or indeed underachieve within the coming years? Any name not mentioned above who could factor in this timeframe too?
