Castle in someone's field, between Ardee and Stabannan

Hi there

I while back driving from Stabannan to Ardee, via the road that is more or leas parallel to the Ardee m1 link road I came across a castle in someone's field. It was of the tower house style. Since I've noticed it is clealy visible from the link road

there was a pretty righteous gate on the field so I assume casual viewing up close was not encuraged. Does anyone know more about this structure?

On a similar note, what about the tower type structure that is off to the left at the Dundalk turn on the M1? I love spotting these when I'm travelling round the country.

That's Dunmahon Castle.

I'v seen Dunmahon Castle for ages going up and down the motorway, decided to stretch the legs and go down the lane to it.. Nice little walk down went in and around, didnt look too sturdy!!:D
