Hello, moving to Kilkenny, i'm wondering is there a drumming circle in the city (or areas around it)? And is there an allotment scheme or community garden?

    Kathryn.

    Hi Kathyrn,

There isn't a regular drumming circle that I'm aware of. Although if you're up for starting one I'm with you! I think maybe Waterford would be the closest. What there is, is a samba drum group. I'm not a member or anything but I've seen them a few times and they're good. Website is here: http://www.rhythmriotmusic.com/samba_band.html

I don't know anything about allotments but I remember reading something in the paper about an allotment scheme somewhere outside town. If you get in contact with Malcolm Noonan, the mayor, he'll be able to tell you all about that stuff. I'm sure he'd be happy to hear from you, he's one of the nicest people you'll meet! http://malcolmnoonan.com/contact-me/

I think there's allotments in Paulstown about 15km from Kilkenny.

    Hi Bootsy,
Thanks for your reply. I've been in touch with the samba crew and will meet them next week.
As for other drumming, i'm going to put an ad out in the local music shops and maybe start a circle. Have you a djembe? It would be great to get people together drumming outside, and i'll be looking out for cheap community spaces to use for rainy days too!
And I got an allotment sorted out of town, so happy days.
    Bye for now
    Kathryn

It would be wonderful to see more drumming groups sprouting up in Kilkenny.
