Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The EPL Summer Barter Deals

Given the financial predicaments a lot of clubs find themselves in, we may not be a million miles away from player swap deals becoming far more prevelant than they have been in the past.

With that in mind, if barter was the only option who would you like to see your club involved in from a transferring perspective this summer?

Try and be slightly realistic though, we all want our team to get the best of it but obviously Neville - Fabergas ain't going to happen!

    For United;

    Rodwell in Ferdinand out

Rodwell looks like a fantastic prospect, and Everton need a strong centre half. They're not going to let Rodwell go for a nothing player so it would mean sacrificing Ferdinand. That leaves Vidic alongside Evans/Rodwell for United with Brown/O'Shea providing back up. I'd be happy with that...although Everton might not be :)

N'Zogobia in Foster & Park out

Would give us pace and a little something different down the left hand side. Wigan need a keeper as back up / challenger to Kirkland but they also need to fill the hole left by Palacios / Valencia / N'zogbia leaving. I think Park could be a great signing for them, but is surplus at United

    Carlton Cole in Carrick out

United need an out and out front man and Cole ticks a lot of boxes. The Hammers need a ball playing midfielder and Carrick might just shake of some of the shackles that playing for United have put on him. Maybe as the main playmaker in another team he might find some of the form that got him the move to United in the first place.

So no central midfielder in then?

Park Ji Sung is most certainly not surplus at United.

Gary Breen out - Gary Breen in (on an improved contract)

Ferdinand, Park and Carrick will all be at United next year. Ferdinand is still a great defender and is first choice, Park versus AC Milan shows why he is needed and we don't need Carlton Cole.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Park but if we have:

Nani, Valencia, N'Zogbia, Anderson, Hargreaves, Fletcher, Rodwell & to a lesser extent from next year Giggs, Scholes then I think he's a surplus player for midfield.

Swap deals are few and far between and those mentioned are very unrealistic.

But then the infamous Old Trafford dog infestation of 2004 would rear it's ugly head again.

Rio Ferdinand would laugh in the face of anyone suggesting he move to Everton

it's an exercise in what might be if swap deals became the norm. Not an expectation for what will happen this summer.

Just be thankful I didn't try and poach Milner & Young :D

Fair enough but those united players would not join those clubs you mentioned even if it did become popular.

to the op. from a uniteds perspective we go from needing silva and villa to nzogbia and cole....... theres a huge diff there!! we go from world class players to barely proven in the EPL. Get a grip will ya!!

ok i'd agree with rodwell coming but no way will ferdinand be leaving just yet. he has a few more years in him yet.

although we should be looking to replace scoles and giggs not carrick as he'd be a useful squad player as much as i dont like him he'd be handy to bring on when we're 2 nil up or whatever and looking to see out the game but whether he'd stay and be a squad player is another story altogether.

    .

One problem with that. Rodwell has mostly played in midfield for Everton and anytime he has played in the defense has been absolutely disastrous.

Not exactly gospel but should give you a good enough idea where he has played for most of his Everton career.

There was a rumour doing the rounds in Italy a few weeks back that Juvé were willing to swap Buffon and Chiellini for Van Persie! I would bit their hands off if that were the case!
