Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just got a very bad one. Travels through bluetooth it's affecting my phone and sat nav. Screwed up my whole system it started of using lots of memory then just came all at once.

It keeps changing and hidding files there's no point doing Safe mode because when machine restarts all the programs are there again.

Anyone know what I can do? Can't even reinstall Vista.

Why can't you reinstall Vista? Boot from the CD, format the drive and reinstall..

It's unlikely that a virus would actually be running on the phone and sat-nav.
Your computer probably just sees them as portable drives. In which case a virus would be of the 'autorun.inf' type on these devices.
Disabling autorun or switching off the devices would be a good idea at least while sorting out the issue.
More complicated than it should be...

A half decent antivirus should clean and block these.
The free MS security essentials download is OK at detecting these, once it's updated.

You say that "all the programs are there again". You'll need to describe which programs you're referring to.
You could download and burn the kaspersky live CD from http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/RescueDisk/kav_rescue_2008.iso
It does not require windows, it's a bootable linux CD, and can scan your computers hard drive telling you which virus you are dealing with.

Why would you want to? It causes all the symptoms you've listed.

It brought me into a different system. It had windows NT on it even though I never seen it before.

I ended up formatting the HD but I can't install windows it came up with some type pf warning about the Bios.

It is some type of virus/spyware. It travels through bluetooth my girlfriend got a sms on her phone with a skull beside it I told her not to open it which she didn't afaik. I knocked off her phone then when I started the phone afain it came up saying updating software then the phone started going funny.

OP, the mother of all viruses is Vista, just get OSX, or the lesser copy Windows 7.

    This.

Read the sticky, carry out the instructions and ASL will help, but only when you carry out the instructions.
