    Hi -

can anyone recommend an eyebrow threading place located in Cork City?

I read that Blue Daisy used to do it but their website says they've shut down since about mid-March.

Everything else I find online seems to be located in Dublin or Galway!

    Thanks.

Not sure what it's called but there is a place near Directors Cut and Morleys.
It's upstairs but they usually have a board outside advertising. I haven't tried there though, went in one day to get it done but they were closed. It was a monday but I passed the other day and the board was out so I'm assuming they are still in business.

Roesy - I think you're referring to Glamour Gal Spa & Lash Bar or whatever it's called - the board is out, but their number doesn't seem to be working so I'm not sure if it's still in business or not.

Thanks for the other suggestion (Priya) - is anyone able to recommend it?

I guess beggars aren't choosers though!

    Thanks again

There's also a place in Macauley's in Blackpool shopping centre that does it. I would also make sure an Asian person does it as they have the expertise.

Personally, I find the prices charged here horrendous! Usually wait until I go back to London and get it done there. Only £3! :D

@ previous poster: Threading is an ancient Indian art of hair removal. It involves the practicioner using thread which is 'woven' between the brow hairs and then 'razored' off. Gives a great finish and if done properly should be painless with little or no redness. Much better than plucking or waxing, and the regrowth is finer too. Hope this helps!

So, I had my threading done today at Priya by one of the two girls that do it that is more experienced, and I am so angry right now because she doesn't have a fu*king clue!

I showed her a picture of my eyebrows as they were done previously (of course, in London), I told her I want that shape, I don't want to cut down on thickness or length of my eyebrows.

She seemed to have understood what I wanted as she said the only thing I need is a trim, which I agreed with.

When she was done I realized she made my eyebrows look so regular and made them quite a bit shorter than they were, and took out way too much inbetween the eyebrows.

After I told her that, she said that in theory, you have to start the eyebrow at the corner of your eye. I completely disagree with that because if I'm not interested in theory when it comes to beauty, I want done whatever works best with my face.

Anyways, don't go to Priya for the true experience of eyebrow threading because that woman doesn't have a clue about it, or what really beautiful eyebrows are.

Sorry for the poor editing, but anyway, the photo on top are my eyebrows of when I got them done in London at Selfridges, and the two below are of what I have now...two completely different eyebrows and I just can't express how disappointed I am today.

I guess I will have to book flights to London to get anything beauty related done because Cork beauticians/hairdressers/etc. have disappointed me time and time again.

    P. S. I got in touch with the girl at Glamour Gal Lash & Bar next to O'Briens, it seems she does still work but I considering I couldn't reach her for ages and couldn't even ring her phone made me very weary as this place doesn't seem to be very professional.

Try Adoré in Oliver plunkett street. They're a bit expensive but I always found them excellent when I lived in Cork.

Do Adore do threading? I always thought they didn't...

Help - used to go to the brilliant Stephanie at Elle Beauty for my brows (and upper lip...). She seems to have disappeared - phone doesn't ring etc so really need some good recommendations for threading in Cork now please (unless someone knows where she might be gone?). I have thickish brows with a pretty good shape so want someone who won't whip the whole lot off!!

Tried Citywax - don't know who - for the upper lip as a test run and the girl was incredibly slow (and so a million times more painful).

Stephanie is just gone on holiday at the moment, I think she is gone for 3 weeks so she will be back 22nd November. Her number is working though and she has a voicemail message to say when she will be back so here is the number just incase you have the wrong one - 087 9732277!

Now I need to find somewhere to get them done in the mean time

    thanks Evonose!!! that's great. :D

Must have just been problems with her number in October so as it wasn't even ringing. I tried it again and it's working now like you said. Hurray. I will hold tight until she's back.

thanks again. Calm will once more be restored to my soon-to-be professorial brows...
